This weekend I tore down the Inverter, searching for burned board/components plus the dreaded gelled coolant, and could not find either - all looked fine. So carefully reassembled it and put it aside.

It looks like I will be replacing the transaxle - and to that end I have located one a short distance from me and will be picking it up tomorrow. It is supposed to have only 86k miles for $600.

What is the "dreaded gelled coolant"? Have not seen any reports of coolant issue with the inverter.

Today I picked up trans-axle as well as transmission ecu from semi-local salvage yard.

The trans-axle had about 86k miles and cost $600. It did not have axle shafts as the doner car had been in front end accident. Also as a side note it is HEAVY!! probably due to the fact that it is so small and contains a lot of technology.

The trans ECU seemed like a good thing to pick up as well as the scan codes were a bit confusing for diagnosis, plus I paid only $40 for it, so seemed like a good thing to pick up at the time.

I have seen notes where the coolant gels and clogs up the passageways within the inverter
