Check with another source. I was listening to some R&B on XM and it was boomy. A lot more noticeable than the same song on my iPhone via bluetooth.

That is good to hear. I wonder if they'll let me test pair my iPhone with a car I don't own. We'll find out.

Will report on what I hear.

Well easiest way is to bring a cable and plug it into the USB port directly.

That being said, I have paired a phone before. You have to remember to delete the phone after the test drive is done.

Relentless adjustments... Hundreds of hours of collaboration with Toyota.... Comical, that's what the statement is.
I'm willing to bet none of that was true, and or the system was tested in a test bed environment that didn't consist of where the final components were to be fitted. Meaning quite simply, the collaboration and hundreds of hours weren't in the Prius.

Just bought a JBL Charge one and virtually no service or warranty. At least it works but JBL has hit bottom.

I did get to spend time listening to the Premium JBL sound system, paired to my iPhone today. That alleviated my fears about boomy bass... and confirms how much XM sucks. I even made a few test phone calls to my answering machine at home to test the quality.

I need to look this up in the manual... but to load my address book into the system (from my iPhone) I need to Toyota Entune app on my phone? I think that's how it works.

UPDATE: Okay, I figured the answer to my own question... and it's yes. Contacts have to be transferred and setup (as per page 474) to a PBAP compatible Bluetooth® phone... which the iPhone is.

    Asked and answered!

Yes, I'd noticed that too. There is something going on with the EQ for at least some of the XM channels, that does not flatter the JBL sound system. I mostly listen to high bit-rate FLAC and mp3 audio, and the system performs decently enough. Not going to win any competitions, but I would not expect that anyway, and I have other priorities to address before I do anything with the audio...

So, I'm curious - have you made a decision? Put in an order/started negotiations/cut a deal, still on the fence, or moving on?

I agree... not going to win any competitions.

As a side note: I got experience with a Chevy Volt and hear the Bose sound system (and Apple CarPlay). The audio I find acceptable, but not as nice as the JBL Premium system. Now that I have warmed up to the JBL audio, since hearing my material on it. Listening to the Volt with my material as well. My CarPlay feelings: nice, but not necessary. The map is laggy (negative). Seeing the my Contacts pictures on the screen (like on my iPhone) cool. But overall, I am not that impressed with CarPlay. Thought I wanted it. But you have to have the phone plugged in to use it. Apple CarPlay a big snoozer for me  (can't believe I now feel that way).

One more OT side note: Chevy Volt... too expensive, poor mileage/range... unimpressive ride... uncomfortable seats... etc. But I thought it was my duty to test it before pulling the Prius lever!

I think you can tell from my posts... the decision is in! The finger is almost on the trigger!! The numbers are in!!! We’re rounding the corner now baby!

And that's all I can say for now. ;)

    don't think you need etune/maybe.
The salesman loaded my 5S before etune was installed. maybe
Really wanted a Leaf but not there yet. I need to live in the city or the Leaf needs a longer range.

You're right. Entune is not needed. There is an extra stepped I skipped to upload my contacts to the system.

Me too... not ready to be completely plugged in yet. By the time I need another new car, there may be self driving ones... and the DMV will start issuing "Self Driving Only" licenses to the elderly who would otherwise loose there driving privileges! Luckily, I've got aways to go yet o_O

I test drove both a 1st gen Volt and a Gen 2 Volt for the same reason, and came away feeling the same way about it/them. The Volt doesn't fit my duty cycle, then add in that legendary GM build quality, and my choice was easy.

You've clearly done your research and legwork; I think you'll be pleased with your choice. Without going full fan-boy, I really like mine and look for excuses to drive it. :D

Did we ever prove if the Prius with Advanced technology (AD) package auto stops in reverse? I noticed Nissan is advertising that feature.
Put a salesman behind the car and rotate the bodies out until we get an answer.:ROFLMAO:

One more thought on my audio tests from yesterday... another discovery I made about the Premium JBL sound system (and those who already own the car may know this) - but it relates to the Sound Settings.

The Treble, Mid and Bass controls are sound source specific. For example; the adjustments for AM, FM, XM, or an external Audio or Bluetooth device… the settings are saved and recalled automatically. It's not one Treble, Mid, Bass and Fader setting for all sources. They are source specific to what you are listening to as you make changes to the adjustments.

That is a good thing (y) I didn't know. Each source can have it's own EQ source specific settings. Something good to know. Thought I would pass that along.

That's it! I was trying to figure out why it was not saving my settings.

I got a good idea for testing auto stop using perhaps a cardboard wall. And also some paint protection film on bumpers to prevent likely hood of scuffs scratches.

Tried it yesterday but got scared and braked. Not sure about all the parameters to get it to work.

Aside from the Bang & Olufsen in the Audi A7/A8 and the Mark Levinson surround sound in the LS and RX, I don't expect to be blown away by any premium audio system in any car. However, I do appreciate any audio clarity advantage that the JBL audio could bring over the standard speakers. They're not all the same (listen to the JBL audio in the Gen 2 and then one from the Avalon or Camry. Not Sienna or Venza since those are JBL Synthesis which is a different model and may sound different)

Good enough for me. I remember as kid putting a 15" woofer in the back seat. 1969.:ROFLMAO:
