hello all, this is my first time ever posting to prius chat, however I am a long time lurker here. I recently bought a 2006 prius used with 100,000 miles and have been hearing a very disconcerning sound coming from underneath the car. It is a screechy noise that is always there, but especially when i accelerate or break going up a hill. I have had it checked out by both a dealership and an independent mechanic here in seattle, and neither party has any idea what it could be, even after hours of troubleshooting, as well as showing then a video in which you can hear this awful sound. Any informaion on what may be going on here would be much appreciated. I turn to prius chat because you are the biggest resource of information. Thank you for helping me fix my beloved new car. I have a video that I will try to upload but is hard because it is on my phone. i will email you the video if it doesnt work.

Did the dealership charge you for this diagnosis that is undetermined?

Wow, how does one agree to pay for a service when they can't determine the problem? Part of the reason for a diagnosis fee is to quote you a price for repair. But since there's no repair option here, unknown problem, how do they possibly charge for a diagnosis? They didn't do anything that you couldn't do.

You need to somehow post the noise, see if we can help

they said they worked on the breaks to tighten them, and they greased the axle or something thinking that would solve the noise. it didnt, but i still had to pay. I couldnt figure out how to post the noise on my phone, i will use my computer tonight when im home to upload it.
