I don't understand what those visors do. Would someone please explain why they would install them?

Welcome Priusforever to our friendly little forum!

Now first I want to set you straight. Those are called 'vent visors' by the illuminati (ie. Toyota Dealerships). JK! :D

They look very nice on your Blizzard pearl. Also I want to compliment you on your color choices!. That black interior looks super sexy with the Blizzard pearl. (I have Blue crush w/ black myself).

The visors allow you to leave your windows cracked so air can circulate without any rain getting in, thus keeping the car cooler on hot days. At least that's what I would use them for, and they do look sharp.

Indeed! Practical and stylish. They are commonly referred to as wind deflectors though I have only ever wanted them to be able to crack the windows when it is raining. I have had wind deflectors on every car I have owned for the past twenty years. I am partial to the WeatherTech brand as they are in-channel and protrude outward more than other brands allowing the window to be opened a little more. Unfortunately, WeatherTech has not yet manufactured wind deflectors for the 2016 Prius (exception Prius V). I installed the JDM brand in the interim as my wife can't do without them either when it is raining.

I really like the low profile JDM visors better than the WeatherTech ones - Streamlined!

In the Deep South, this is one of the first accessories I buy for my vehicles.
I've never really liked the way they look, and most of them add wind noise at interstate speed.....but I've installed them on every vehicle I've owned since getting rid of the MX-5.

Also allows one to smoke when it's raining outside. Always had a window visor fitted when I used to smoke. Very useful, let's smoke out and stops rain in.LOL

I think I've seen it in movies and films. Know when the people are outside and water is falling on them out of the sky and it's getting on everything? I think that happens in real life in some places, not just on movies. Maybe that's why I never thought to get some deflectors like these.

I don't know much about wind visors but I definitely want to get them (to keep the car cooler when parked in the heat). I want ones that hug close to the car so as not to take away from the streamline. JDM or WeatherTech or some other brand?

They look great. Any comment on how the "wind deflector" does in providing some shade from the sun? How much of the window does it block (2 inches?)

The sun visors on the Prius is too short to block the sun in most situations, and I'm thinking about "wind deflectors" as a partial solution.
