I am using Sil-Glyde (same tube I used for the first round of lubes last year).

I will pull the wheel, caliper, and pads this weekend (or maybe tonight if I have time) and see how everything looks. As I mentioned before, I may be paying the price for my laziness in not pulling the pads before...

Also, it is possible to use TOO MUCH lube on these pins? I notice that with the amount i put on, they almost seem to create positive pressure as they trap air inside the bore. When I first did this I actually popped the boot out of the caliper when I pushed it in...

Just an update on my post...

I pulled the wheel Friday (I smelled it was hot again Friday when I got home from work), and this time I pulled the pads, and the caliper bracket.

The pads looked fine (no drastically uneven wear). I then cleaned out the holes in the caliper bracket as best I could (cotton swabs and brake cleaner). I thought I was feeling some grit when I tried the pin that was previously rusted, so I hoped that this cleaning would help with the binding. I then regreased the pins, but I used a bit less than I had previously.

EDIT: The bores in the bracket for the pins were not rusty - I think they just had rust particles/dirt from the previously replaced pins.

I haven't really driven it other than a short 2 mile trip right after this attempt to fix the binding, so I will have to wait a few days and see if I see it happening again.

If the 12v battery is disconnected, the rear brakes do not work (at least on my 2012). Interesting design. I was
replacing the driver side rear pads a few days ago and did that check first before I touched anything.
