Wow must be an entire subsystem driving the fan. Maybe they should modularize this a bit more. The compressor is very efficient comparatively, unless that is energized for the fan as well. Even so the A/C is extremely efficient.

    Unsupervised!

Yes. ScanGauge II. Multipled amperage pull by 200V to get the the wattage. The numbers are actually probably a little higher/lower than what I reported due to the lack of granularity that the ScanGaugeII has. I can repeat the tests with EngineLink which provides better granularity with regards to voltage of the pack, and actual amperage draw, but those numbers are pretty good for a ballpark figure.

i can run the fan all day long and not notice range effect, but a/c? easily cuts 10% off my range.

A/C compressor only runs when necessary. With my ScanGaugeII I can see the amperage draw go up when I manually turn on AC.

I always run the climate control system in Auto mode and adjust temperature up/down to get some airflow on my face. I'd rather be comfortable than worry about my EV range or overall tank MPG going down by some fraction.

I don't know if it saves much on power consumption but I've found when using the A/C for cooling, setting the climate control higher than normal e.g. around 23-24 C (73-75 F) still feels comfortable to me. YMMV - not sure how well this would work in places like California...

It works pretty well in the San Francisco Bay Area. If the outside temp is in the 90's (don't laugh, it happened just last week), I'll set the temp somewhere in the 70's to help cool down the cabin rapidly (and roll the windows down to get the hot air out) and then after the cabin is comfortable, I'll adjust the temp so that I have some cool airflow on my face, but not have it blasting. I leave the system in Auto and A/C mode all the time and just adjust temp as needed. The car will only run the A/C compressor when it needs to in this mode.
