Oh, nice, cool Pics. Looks like Toyota improved their fuel efficiency on the 2015-2016 Camry V6's.. Its at 21/31 with combined 25 mpg.
But the latest Prius mpg is mind blowing.Somehow my persona never got more than 45, may be because of low profile tires or how I drive.
I don't know how the Gen4 is compared to my old Gen3, but Gen3 at least my persona had lot of road noise, road bumps were more pronounced.

    That's beautiful.

    What a clean engine bay!

Efficiency went up with the current crop of "R" engines (On the Camry, that's the 2AR and 2GR). The 3.5 litre was actually introduced with the Camry refresh in 2005. I think the 6-spd was introduced with it or in 2012; I forget.

The new Gen 4 is quieter and rides much better thanks to more sound insulation and a new double wishbone rear suspension. The old torsion beam was compact, cheap and "did the job" but this new double wishbone improves it even in everyday driving with 4-wheel independent suspension like your Camry.

I rented a 2010 Prius V (ok, Five w 17" wheels) way back in June 2009, remember driving it on Hwy 85 'expansion joints' and it had a bouncy porpoise thing happening on that section. Didn't get on similar pavement with three Touring, buy I'll wager it would be much better.

I'd be willing to pay a reasonable fee, if the dealers would offer an " extended road test." Say, 24 hours? Let the customer take the car home, drive it, and evaluate everything. (MUST take a Mug-Shot, thumbprint, have proof of insurance, and a major credit card.)

There's just no way to decide if you like a car or not during those short, low-speed, 15 minute test drives. One dealer I visited, doesn't even allow the cars to be driven off the lot! So your "test drive" is 8 MPH through the parking lot. o_O

That's how I drive my car now - so that would have been representative...

I'm with you, and leaning towards a Three with ATP. Best bang for the buck. :ROFLMAO:

In retrospect, I think any Prius model is a good choice. Just depends on what needs/wants the owner has, what their budget allows, and what kind of special safety features they desire.

I shouldn't call myself cheap. I'm not. It's just that my driving has changed, and I drive much less since retiring several years ago. I just felt I didn't need all the extra features. I'm enjoying my Three model very much. (even though the footwell light already quit working.:()

One dealer offer me the car for couple of hours! Take it... drive it anywhere... for a couple hours, no strings attached. I declined.

Tip for a longer test drive:
    1. Put on your best suit and tie when you go looking at the car. [I look more important than I am dressed up]
    2. Tell them your ready to buy within a week or two. [In my case, that wasn't a lie]
That technique resulted in a 15-20 minute freeway test drive! Not only one test drive... but a two test drives (equally as long - same route). One in the Touring 17" wheels and another with a non-Touring 15" model. BACK-TO-BACK!

Oh, and go on weekday - when they're not that busy. On a weekend, they don't want to spend too much time with you if you're not buying that day!
