Congrats! Glad your car is close! I'm still clueless as to when mine will be delivered. Like you, it isn't so much the wait as not knowing when exactly. If I knew it was August I'd get on with my life, but the question mark over delivery is killing me!

I live by the seaside which means my car is a target for all kinds of 'presents' from the local seagulls. I'm reluctant to clean it when I'm feeling as if it is no longer mine!

Here, dealers actually hold licence plates, and the 3rd party personal insurance is included as part of the registration process - pay your money and it happens, so the dealer can do it fairly quickly - if the car has had the pre-delivery mechanical done. Comprehensive and breakdown etc insurances are the responsibility (or risk) of the purchaser. In my case, I have "Personalised Plates", and I need to give them to the dealer in advance - and buy standard plates for my car to keep it legal.

You might want to consider then the "ProTect" coating that your dealer can do to avoid seagulls "presents" to stick too hard on the car. It is essentially another layer of slippery surface to avoid water, dust and dirt to stick too easily to the body and alloy wheels. Here it costs 499€. Probably I wasted my money's worth, but I thought I'd try it once. I am really lazy bringing the car to the car wash...and I don't care excessively if it is dirty, I sit inside :D

Nothing of the sort here - insurance is something you need to care of - the number I have given the dealer is to cover temporarily between registration and final insurance contract is closed, and the contract is based on the final vehicle type numbers you get from the registration office. Without those you cannot do much. It all happens automatically actually. You just need how much you want to pay for which services, but the dealer is not involved.
As for the plates, you can get "custom" ones here in Germany too, for about 10€ extra - you can essentially choose the 1-3 letters and 2-4 numbers combination (depending on the city there are more or less letters/numbers to customize) of your license plate. Austria has way more flexibility, almost like in the USA Moreover, the license plates are linked to your bank account (to get directly tax money from it - either that or you cannot drive the car) and the chassis number...So a dealer cannot stock them in advance. He can do them for you, when required.

Coming hopefully by end of the week ;)
Car is there (I have seen it with my own eyes :D) and they need to register it and put the paint anti-dust/stains on it (probably not worth the 499€...).
I am so happy and excited like a 10 year old kid, it is embarrassing...:):ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Don't be embarrassed; most of us are a bit giddy when we get a new car. To calm down a bit, this evening go to your local gasthaus for dinner and have a Bitburger for me.

Be sure to put a nice coat of protective synthetic sealant on it every 6 months. I use 2001 but there are many good products at a reasonable cost. Dealer gave my two sealant kits for free.

I've used the Paint Protection coating twice - on the car I bought it 2006 and this present one. I barely had to wash it - rain would take most dirt off. The car in-between received a dose of bat excrement when it was only a week or so old, and it took off the gloss from the paint. The quote to repaint the bonnet (hood) was more than I saved with not getting the Paint Protection. I still had the previous car at the time and it also received bat excrement the same night, but it washed straight off. It was 3 yrs old, and hadn't been re-treated.

I note that a Silver Pearl 2016 Prius has arrived the other side of the next city - 40 mins away, I better go for a drive to look.

[Corolla hybrid has been released this week, looks like it's got Gen 3 mechanicals. But it's fairly basic, with no adaptive cruise, autonomous braking - plus there are none in any dealers within 2 hrs of here (and I think there are 25 in that area), so I just don't understand TOYOTA's releasing cars which don't exist. I've looked at the specifications, size (and odd styling) - I'd be better off to buy a superseded Gen 3 for about the same price.]

Probably the seats don't fold down. But would be an easier car to ramp up production in a pinch.

Interesting - the journalists have reported that the battery is UNDER the Corolla's rear seats - but Toyota makes no mention of capacity with seats down in either this one or the petrol car. I guess we have to wait to see one, but it's not inspiring me, as it also has Premium fuel specified.

Premium gas is a no go for any car these days. Better off going all electric with a Bolt.

HaHa - GM released the Volt here a few years ago, doubled the price you'd expect to pay (ie more than a BMW 3 series) - they sat in the dealerships for a couple of years, all gone now. I'd be surprised if we ever see a BOLT here.

Gen 3 here specified Premium 95 too - which is cheaper than 98. Though if you read the owner's manual, I think it says preferred, rather than mandated. Most European cars here come mandating, no choice, premium 98.

I have used 95 E10 since day one on my Gen3. When it wasn't available (Italy - at least nothing explicitly said at the pump about E values), I noticed no difference at all in performance and fuel consumption etc.
Gen4 will get the same - 95 E10, as advised from the manual.
