Is this even possible? I know that there is an adapter that I can buy that plugs right in to the nav unit, but I don't want to spend $200. My Prius has a slot to the left of the license plate for where the camera should go, so I do believe that it was an option. I was trying to read up on this, and from what I came across, I believe that there is a harness of some kind running to the back hatch that I can connect a camera to?? I really want a backup camera, but don't want to have an external monitor on my dash or install a new head unit with a camera input.

Any help would be much appreciated! :) I don't really understand wiring, so any and all clarification will be much appreciated!

Oh, and I have an '05 Option 5 Prius.

Thank you! And if this is in the wrong section, feel free to move it or whatever you guys do :p

I've been looking into the same thing for 05 Prius and here's what I've found (some of the more experienced people on here, feel free to correct me).

The 05 Prius with Navigation has a screen that is capable of doing video. That's good news.
The Prius also has a cutout where you could add an OEM camera. That's good news.
The bad news is that it doesn't have an INPUT for a backup camera so you need a specialized device that allows you to change the input to the video screen. That costs about $200.
The other bad news is that the 05 prius doesn't have the wiring harness for all the wires so that needs to be addressed.

If you want it installed, you're probably looking at $500. For the same price, you can also consider Pearl's REAR VISION.

    Hope that helps!

Ahhhhh......thanks! I actually just decided to add a second screen inside the car. Figured $40 is better than $500! Doesn't look as good, but doesn't look bad :) Thanks for your response anyways :)
