Forbes Article mentions 37 mile range?!

    What I found interesting, is they also compare it to the e-four version (AWD) of the Prius LB. And that gets about 7 1/2 miles/per gallon less than the 2WD version. Again under the JC08 cycle.

    I'd say about 48 mpg EPA if you compare the EPA MPG to JC08 MPG for the same vehicle.

    It seems to look longer a bit in the nose and maybe the spoiler might reach out a bit more than the 2016 Prius LB. Since the interior is the same it must be some external areas.

    105mm longer than PiP. It's a separate model line now so anything they compare, it is to the PiP.

    The nose is a bit longer (you can see it in the profile) and the tail is a touch longer too but I think most of it is in the front. (bumper design)

    165 mm longer than pip. 6 1/2" extra length, with no additional interior capacity in my garage is something to seriously consider.
    wow, another negative for prime. i think that's strike 3.

    Yeah the Prime only 6" shorter than my wife's Venza. It's already a little tight on my side of the garage. Maybe I'll get her to upgrade to the Prime. :(). Give us the best of both worlds.

    Toyota's effort with Prius Prime is to attract new interest.

    That's why opinions of most here don't make any difference. They aren't the targeted market. Remember, the goal is to grow, not cannibalize.

    agreed, but that's true of my opinion everywhere.:cool:

    look at how well the gen 4 lift back has done, despite the negativity initially responding here. new users are flocking to toyota dealerships.(y)

    Don't forget the problems gen-1 Volt had with audience. They were nothing but early-adopters. That meant being trapped with only conquest sales (those who previously purchased from an automaker other than GM). Not appealing at all to its own customers was a major problem not taken seriously. Cannibalization wasn't a concern, since GM didn't offer anything else to choose from. Now with gen-2 Volt, there's the upcoming rollout of Bolt which is expected to cannibalize. Volt sales will be lost to Bolt. See how vital it is to know audience, especially with the market itself changing?

    Knowing that Toyota isn't targeting potential Prius buyers with Prius Prime is a good thing. The spin about it doing otherwise is a clear disregard for the goal of growing the customer base. Appealing to people on the showroom floor is far more difficult than simply attracting those interested in getting something with a plug. That isn't conquest. That isn't cannibalization either. It's a bold move to get those who would consider Camry or Corolla to take a closer look. These are people who don't show interest in Prius. There's EV appeal without having to accept a paradigm shift.

    I see the excitement firsthand now. The grocery store just a few blocks from my home opened a week ago. There are 4 spots with charging-stations. When you plug in, people notice and they don't hesitate to ask questions. They know that Prius is a hybrid but also know what it means to take advantage of plug-supplied electricity.

    This isn't late 2010 anymore. The 2017 market will be quite different. Inhibition about plugging in has turned into curiosity. That spells opportunity. Toyota is preparing to take advantage of that in a big way. It may not be exciting to many here wanting a lot more EV, but it will be to the masses... who overwhelmingly prefer smaller steps.

    It's a slow transition and the middle presents far more barriers to overcome than initial buyers.

    i plug in at whole foods, no one ever asks me anything. of course, everyone else is driving uge suv's that don't even fit in the parking spots. minnersoter is such a progressive ev state.

    The store was built on what had been farm land in a rapidly growing suburb with a very diverse range of incomes.

    That, combined with our progressive nature, makes a difference.

    The harsh winters tend to stimulate a git'r done attitude too. You procrastinate, you have to wait a whole year for the next chance.
