How hard is it to keep white console clean?

I'm conflicted about the white console--not sure I like the looks, but I'm very concerned about keeping it clean. Would love to hear from those of you who've owned it for a while. Also am wondering how hard is it to keep the moonstone cloth or softex clean. Thanks much!

I'm not sure about the white either - but my experience with my last 4 cars (previous VOLVO was tan interior) was that the black or almost black trim shows dust and other white flecks within minutes of cleaning. My bedroom furniture is white, just 2 pack paint I guess, and is easy to vacuum off and wash from time to time. The black furniture & AV stuff in my living room always looks dusty. Hopefully, the white might be the same. I can't see it staining - I guess if it does, get the black Appliqué.

Are you talking about the "fine white china" cup holders? :) It seems to be of high-quality material, and I haven't noticed any dirt accumulating on it. Any spills clean right up. (I put a light coat of car wax on it. Not sure if it helps any, but it stays nice and shiny.)

As for the seats, I have the (boring?) Harvest Beige color. I don't anticipate them getting dirty. But, just in case, I took the cheap way out and put colorful beach towels over them. (Crazy, I know.)

And as Alan mentioned, the shiny black interior pieces (and my touch-screen) attract the most dust. I keep my air vent on "recycle" and use the AC most of the time.

Oh, I'd forgotten (not really - I play it several time a day) - I've got a 7'4" BLACK grand piano - as a prime demonstration of dust on black surfaces. The white keys remain white more or less forever, the black exhibits dust the moment it's been dusted or polished.

Not an issue with me. I am a tea drinker and old tea spots clean up 100% with water and elbow grease.

The white console has stayed very clean going on 3 months. There is dust on the black shiny areas of the dash (not much). I drive mostly with the windows open. Nothing noticeable on the moonstone cloth seats, the material seems pretty durable. But again that is only with 3 months use.

I have really grown to love the look of the white console.

I keep a dust cloth in the armrest compartment and wipe the console and the shiney display unit often and no dirt has accumulated.

I like it too. It kind of matches the exterior of my car (Blizzard Pearl.) And when I'm stuck at a long red light, out comes the "dusting cloth" for the black Darth Vader touch screen area. :D I'm getting weirder and weirder... :cautious:

I have a swiffer attachment in a plastic bag for that purpose.

It's all that white in the dash and the doors that I'm mostly concerned about. But you're right, I have a black dash on my 2014 prius and it does have white dust (?) all over it and it's hard to keep off. I'm also unsure if I like the looks of it--maybe it's just a matter of getting used to it. I admit that all black is boring!

I must say - I'm not convinced about white - but it was a breath of fresh air after so many other black or dark grey interiors. Pity black was the only colour available.

BMW has done something similar - have a look at the i3 (top) compared with the boring 118.

The white console is very easy to keep clean. It still looks like new. I have the moonstone SofTex seats and they are also very easy to clean. I've spilled some coffee on it before and it cleans up with water and a paper towel. The stain is gone. Same with the white SofTex dashboard.

The "Moonstone" cloth interior looks silver to me. But it looks white in SofTex. Is that correct?

I'll be curious to see how resistant to staining (e.g. denim) the SofTex is compared to leather. I do like the contrasting colour but the fact that it's white is a bit high maintenance for me (I like to keep my car clean and in good condition so it will bother me lol). I almost went with Misty Grey for the Gen 3 (light grey/purple contrast) but ended up with Dark Grey instead (more like medium grey in real life).

I'm more concerned about the scuffing just behind the interior door handles, the door card material doesn't look too durable and it looks a bit like compressed cardboard and as if it would dissolve if you wet it.

We have some kind of dark mark on the Moonstone dash, same material as the material on the doors. Nothing I could do would remove it. Went to the Toyota dealer, their detailing crew couldn't do anything went to the service shop, no help there either. They say this is some kind of paint on black plastic and that maybe I scratched off the paint. I'm skeptical of that, but by the same token not sure that I know what to do next. Service guy suggested go to an upholstery shop and they would paint it...

This is NOT the softex on the seats, by the way. That seems to clean up well.

The two materials are different on my car. The moonstone color on the door is more of a hollow cardboard feel and the dash seems of higher quality. Was the mark on the car when you got it? Could you post a pic?
