There are numerous threads about changing the stock horns in a Gen 3 Prius with 74100 Fiamm El Grande.

Has anyone tried doing this with a Gen 4 Prius?

On a gen three I did, and when looking at the gen 4, there should be no problem. Plug and play

On the gen 4, I put different horns

On the drivers side I put a Stebel Nautilus Compact Twin Air Horn
    [IMG]
and on the passenger side the Stebel 11690058 - Nautilus Compact Truck Mini Air Horn

In the gen 4 there's tons of room in there.

Not plug an play at all, I had to make the brackets. Each horn need about 18 amps, so I tapped in at the battery with a 40 amp in line fuze, used two relays at each of the horns.

JP, do you mean that the El Grande would be plug and play in the Gen 4?

Yes, no need for relays. The gen 4 horns have "length extensions" to assure that the horn output is directed to openings in the grill.

Remove the extensions from the gen for horns and attach them to the el grande. Re-attach to car.

Installed the horn(s). Only difficulty was the small amount of room in the front of the engine bay.
The plastic cover came off easy - push the center of the clip to release. The horns were removed simply by unscrewing one bolt, which was easy to access. Each horn was connected to a single pull-off connector. Used the new brackets from the horns and re-used the bolt from the Toyota installation. One bolt installation and push-on connector. Sounds much better!

Interested KRMCG. Is this louder and sound more like a standard American automobile horn, or something else. Also, can you supply a link for purchase. Thx, J

I was wondering how long it would take before this thread would turn comical. :)

What is the Amazon part number? Since it appears nobody can post links the part number would be next best thing. I need a nice loud horn, not the forklift sounding thing I have now.

I feel like a typical American driver, but I haven't even looked under the hood yet! Hope it's accessible from the top of the car since I'm way too fat to slide underneath.

In front of the engine compartmentjust take the black plastic shield off first. Everything is from the top.

    Me too!

I did have someone cut me off the other day. Now, that's got me thinking about replacing it.

To anyone who has replaced it... anyway to post an audio file of how your replacement sounds?

There's a link in my signature below to a gen 3 thread about horn replacement. The OP put a video in the first post with a dual tone horn setup. Big difference in volume and tone from oem.

Ohhh, THANK YOU... that does it. I am making that mod ASAP! Just had to use my horn again, today to wake up a driver asleep at a light change.

So which one did you install...

72102 FIAMM Freeway Blaster Horn High Tone
72112 FIAMM Freeway Blaster Horn Low Tone

or the 74100 FIAMM El Grande Twin Horns?

I assume that's the "Low Tone" version in the video. Do we know? I guess should read the whole thread.

    Mahalo!!
