Can we just cut out the whole diaphragm then solder the resistor in (more room)?

    Also can't find a 10ohm 3 watts so I'll use 30 ohms 1 watts in parallel.

There is a 12 mm bolt (same bolt as the horns), and it's in a tight space.
With an adjustable wrench, you have to turn it 1/8 a turn at a time.

With the 12mm ratcheting wrench, it's very easy. I picked some up at Homedepot.

    I don't see why not.
Be very careful and don't cut the tiny speak wire anywhere but at the coil, to leave yourself enough.
Also hold the soldering iron on the tips of the tiny wire to burn off the insulation, and to wet the wire.

Okay I got it done...not without a minor myocardio infarction.

ImJP told you the wires are small...what he didn't tell you is the wires are SMALL!!!!!!! Oh my god, it's like 1/2 the size the strand of your hair. On top of that, there is like a protective coating that prevents it from making contact. So I soldered it in and bam, the warning message popped up..I was like...oh farkkkkkk!!!! Then I started rubbing the hot soldering iron on the wire like ImJP said...more rubbing...back and forth testing with a multimeter and finally got the 10 ohms....put cover back and plugged it in and horrayyyyyyy....no warning message. Whew! :)

    Thanks for the instruction ImJP

btw, if we just plug the 10ohms resistor straight into the connector, that should work too right???

    You should weather seal it.
Then tie it down so it don't rattle.

BTW, the resistor wires do insert tightly into the connector, unless you seal them, they will corrode quickly.

I agree with this. It doesn't bother me. But I can't judge someone if it bothers them. Everyone is different.

What I wish is that they allowed us to customize the sound. Maybe it could play your theme song. College fight song. The Knight Rider theme. The sound of a Tie-Fighter engine. Etc.

I'm not judging. Like I said....too each their own.

Years ago, when VPNS was first introduced, somebody did provide a link to a company that was making "customized" sounds. If I remember right it was things like the sound of a V8 engine, or a Jet taking off. But I've never read of anyone actually installing such a modification.

I apologize, I didn't mean to imply you were judging anyone. I can see how it looked like that. I'm sorry.

I had to drive a quick errand a few hours ago and I drove slowly in my residential area. I turned off the radio and rolled down the window. I couldn't hear anything. What does it sound like?

Just wrap it up in sound deadening material. Muted.

Hi guys, I'm interested in purchasing the 2016 Prius and never owned a prius before. I have a few questions regarding the buzzing sounds. I'm going to have the dealer shut off the reverse beeping and so it will only beep once. Will that mean that when using park assist that it will only beep once too? What other beeping sounds should I be aware of. Please list as many as you can think of!

About the seat belt beeping, does it start beeping right when you start the car or when you shift gears?

for the jdm version we have a switch that allows us to turn the vpns off. it's next to the drive mode select button on the console. physically disconnecting the vpns doesn't bring up any alarms or error codes either. think this may because of legal regulation in some countries.

The Pedestrian Warning (VPNS) sound on my car is very low. It never grew in volume. I like it that way. :)
The only time I hear it, barely, is at the drive-thru of McDonald's.
