Another disappointing tank. Is it the stupid sunroof that is ruining my mileage?
I filled a little early. I could have really gone another 200 miles.

    Gallons 7.560
    Avg Speed 30 mph

Round it off to 60 Jim. It sounds better. :) Is that a combination of city & expressway? How much were you anticipating to get? Did your Two Eco do better?

I've been averaging a similar/steady 60 mpg from a full tank, since day one. (Mostly city driving.) I'm as happy as a pig in slop!

I just drive mine, and enjoy the cruise.... Anything over 50 is fantastic! ( for me)

I found the fill was a bit eratic. I don't like filling to the brim.

My previous 2 cars would fill with the pump running normally, you'd hear a bit of a "whoosh" in the fuel filler and it would stop - and if I tried, there was about a litre more would fit it. But Smanatha would stop the pump the moment I started, both times I had to back off to get it to fill-up, and I'm not convinced that my first fill was full - the 2nd fill probably took more fuel, skewing the l/100km figure (equivalent of 51 US MPG, but I'm sure it was higher - the dash display indicated over 60 US MPG). It's the overall average, not just each fill. Besides, I used a different fuel outlet both fills.

I think that as I'm getting used to the car - or is it getting used to me - that I'm finding ways to use her to best economy.

The Toyota website says 54/50 for every Prius model, except the Two Eco, which gets 56/53.

My hand calculated mpg comes out to 59-60; But I don't re-fill at the same point, every time. I might have 1 bar left on the gauge, or 1-1/2, or maybe 2... And I visit various gas stations, rarely using the same pump. Sometimes I pull the nozzle out at the first click-off, and other times I squeeze another $1.50 in there. The temperature goes from 64 in the morning, to 94 in the afternoon. Sometimes I'm in the Normal drive mode, and other times I'm unleashing the PWR. :) My city driving speed varies from ZERO to 50... don't care what the "average" is...

    %#*!?@&(!!!

So, you know what? When it really comes down to it, I have NO IDEA what my actual, real, long-term average MPG is! :ROFLMAO: I think I will just go by what it says on the display-o-meter, enjoy my fine white china, and forget about it! (That display number is always higher, and makes me smile.) Penelope knows best!

    Happy sailing.

It may not count in your scheme, but I camped overnight in the car on a day it was over 120 degrees (only cooled to the high 80s) with car in ready mode cooled to a comfortable 73 degrees inside. I slept well. The nightmare the next day was that tank reported in the low 30s.

    Fellow Gen 4's,

Did my first fill up since new.

    480 miles traveled, 8 gallons = 60 mpg.
My daily commute is over a mountain and back.
I do use 'power mode' to enjoy my up hill commute, and drive
the car faster because it has the horsepower ability to do so.
Also, to keep up with the flow, and p*ss off the drivers behind me!

I make up for this and drive in EV mode in the flats.
Pleasantly surprised that the actual average mpg is greater than the posted mpg! All my past vehicles were always lower.

Not really a hyper-miler, but I know I can do a higher mpg,
but I enjoy driving fast(er) when I have the open road!

I suspect it is but hard to prove. We know it adds weight but it may also have an aerodynamic effect.

There is an aerodynamic, oil technique that involves using an oil film to visualize the boundary layer: Surface Oil Flow Visualization

When I tested a Level 3 with moon roof, the MPG was too low, 99.1 MPG @28mph. At the time, extra weight was the working hypothesis. But something else could be going on.

You might consider using 'blue masking tape' and doing some tuff testing of the rear window. If you find evidence of reverse flow, I would look hard at the moon room.

Kevin, seriously, you need to drive faster than 20 miles per hour!!?
I always re-fuel when Trip-A gets to 500 miles... so I'll never know if I can do 800. No stress; No mess.

I'm really liking the PWR mode! I can zip around with ease, and still get 65 mpg??? :ROFLMAO: All the "PWR haters" out there need to give it a try. It makes my car feel (and drive) so much better. As they say at McDonald's, "I'm lovin' it."

So how "slow" are you? Your fans want to know. :) I can't even comprehend getting 76 mpg from a full tank! But it's nice to know it can be done. You should be in a Prius commercial.

It's funny. Made my car look like it could go really fast and then I drive it really slow. It's like playing a video game, how far? - how economical? are the points to be won.
    Lifetime MPH average is 26.

Good job, sir. Excellent mileage. (I have a great T-shirt I got in Seal Beach... it says "Old Guys Rule!" And has a picture of a guy driving a Woody. I'll ask the lady if she can put a Prius on there!)

If I ever see you on the 605 Freeway, I will "beep-beep" and wave... as I'm zooming by at 90 mph! :D

That's cool! I managed 670 miles on my first tank but those last 20 miles was with light on and not using the AC.

Why do the MPGs drop a bit when I get down to the last 1 or 2 bars? (goes from 64 to 62) The car is much lighter by then... so you'd think the gas mileage would increase somewhat during the last few gallons.

Just my silly theory. I know nothing.

Mine gets better at the end - that's one reason for the 800 mile tanks...

On average, I fill my tank every 12 days. I am the only person I know that actually looks forward to needing gas. It is an event for me and a chance to populate my Excel spreadsheet and calculate to my heart's content.

Kevin to be honest.... your mileage makes me jealous because mine doesn't get that! I'm striving to hit 60 on my calculated # (not screen).
    It's funny because if I were getting 60, then I would want 70! :D

I drive slowly. Really slowly. And I have 135,000 miles on my two Prius'.
