That's what most people are doing. I am old school with a pocket full of stuff.

BTW/ if you can put 42PSI in your tires and give us a 400 mile tank check.

My results are mid 50's on the freeway, 60s around town mixed driving, and 70's mixed driving light load no rain/ 42 PSI/hybrid driving style with your calibrated feet.

So I went to the dealership last week with every intention of buying the Hypersonic Red ECO that they had on the lot. It had the exact options that I wanted too!! I get there, and low and behold it was sitting out front (it was way in the back the other day when I stopped by when they were closed to check it out).

Turns out a customer was thinking of buying it but supposedly the mgr said he was pushing them towards a non Eco for whatever reason.... With that said I proceeded onto a test drive and fell in love. Did a 10 mile loop and got like 58 mpg with Ac blasting. I pull back up at the dealership and there was a salesman waiting with his hand out....he had just sold the darn car that I just test drove and now wanted. They do have one other hypersonic Eco on the lot but I can't get used to the Harvest Beige Interior, plus the options are not what I want..Oh well.

Next step was the car on the showroom floor... A Hypersonic red Four with ATP but not PCP.. Obviously thousands more than the ECO but except not having the PCP package (Is PCP package all that's it's cracked up to be??) it is loaded plus has the rubber mats and truck mat like I want, sunroof, HUD, Softex..etc. They offered me 1k off sticker plus the $1500 rebate? I think Costco pricing would be better would it not? Oh and if I wanted to opt for the 0% financing for 60 or the 0.9 for 72 they said only 1k discount and NO to both the discount plus the $1500 rebate. So bringing my own financing seemed best plus accepting the rebate. I will sign into Costco tonight and see what they are offering... Is it really 1k under invoice, before the rebate?? Dealership tried to say it is only $400 under... Which means they are still too high...

And today I rode up there again and to make the decision even harder they just got in a Blizzard Pearl and a silver Four Touring both with PCP!!! Aahhh!! I can't decide and have no clue what to do. To add to the indecision I kinda have grown fond of the moonstone softex, the only one they have is a sea glass four with no packages...

Sure they could order or find me one in the color combo I decide but I'm certain, plus they said a better deal would be had if I bough one off the lot. They are offering me a pretty fair trade value on my truck also..

I guess even a three is an option, but I like the more solid sliding cargo cover on the fours!! These options and packages are driving me loony. Lol.

I have owned a 2013 Three, a 2015 Persona, and my wife drives a 2014 v three. So I have experience with 15" and 17" wheels... But surprisingly it seems (on this thread and others) that people are saying that mpg with the Gen 4's rolling on the 17"s is not affected as much as the Gen 3's? I used to notice a 4-8 mpg loss with the 17's on my persona compared to my previous Three... Granted it did handle much better in my opinion. I'm just not sure if I want to risk the low profile tires again (potholes) especially with no spare!

I have no clue and am more confused now. I think I need to go back and do and extended test drive on both a touring and non touring... And then just make a take it or leave it offer. I'm thinking 3.5-4K off sticker...?

Sorry for the long post but hopefully someone can chime in and give me some insight..

I saw a Qi wireless iPhone charger on Amazon for $11 and considered it, but I have my 12V USB charger already so it would just be a gimmick. Plus people reported on Amazon that it screwed up their phone or didn't work.

My Prius weather app now says I'm in Coronado, CA, across the bay from San Diego where I'm actually located. The car hasn't even been there. The guy on the phone at Toyota HQ (Hunter) says it's HD radio signals that send weather info and location. But with 1.3 million people you'd think San Diego would be large enough to warrant its own HD tower.

Leasing they gave me a $1,000 Toyota rebate PLUS a Costco discount (can't remember how much). The financing on the three year lease is effectively 0.1% (about 50 cents a month). I got a Prius 4 Touring with PCP (window sticker $33,082) plus 9% sales tax plus an alarm plus GAP insurance for total payments of $15,225 over the three year lease.
I do enjoy the PCP: Parking sensors, larger screen, more speakers, safety connect (like OnStar). Even the navigation seems better than on my 2013 Prius 3.

The Touring drives like a dream although I have never drove an eco to compare it with. Bought the silver the day I drove it and ordered a Red the next week. Red never came so I settled on a white. The silver almost looks white it is so light.

I have the 4 in Blue Crush with ATP & PCP.

I do love this car. It's the nicest car I've ever had and I still have my 2010 Prius.

The PCP is worth it if you like
    • The JBL stereo. It does sound much better than the Gen 3 and the Gen 4 standard audio system
    • The Sonar parking sensors
I have to say the APC (automatic parking control) is not really that great to me because I'm afraid to use it.
I would advise others from the Touring because it hurts your gas mileage with the bigger tires, plus they're more expensive when you go to replace them! I've never been into the upgraded wheels thing.

I am afraid we have to buy the big buck ones and I can't see that it is worth the cost as the USB charger works good enough as well as the 12 volt accessory outlet (Cigar lighter).

Hard to believe you WX app is that far off. Also you can zoom out. Did you ever check the settings as I forgot to last week.

Doesn't seem to hurt mine but what do I compare it too? Mine get over 55MPG all the time and usually in the 60s and sometimes in the 70s per tankful. I think that's pretty good with the ride being outstanding.

In June I negotiated $240 below invoice (about $2600 below MSRP sticker) including all dealer charges and fees for a Four Touring with PCP, all weather mats, and the black console/shifter applique. This was at the beginning of the month. On top of that, I took off the $1500 rebate for cash buyers available at the time. Add back your local taxes and fees.

Since the rebates have gone up, I imagine demand hasn't improved since then. If the dealer wants the business it should be easier to beat my deal given the market conditions, particularly at the end of the month.

Sorry, my thinking is probably stuck in the Gen 3 world. Back then, everyone said you had a choice between good mileage or 17" wheels.
Maybe with all the improvements that isn't an issue anymore.

Sounds good to me. How does PCP and ATP differ?

No way of knowing for sure without a real world long term test. My 2009 Touring Four got less than my 2011 Prius Four Solar. Not a good comparison at all. I swore I would never buy another Touring because the tires were so hard to find. But bought two because they drive that good. Just go to Tirerack.com and buy a spare for the shed.

I think my lifetime average for my old Persona with the 17's was just under 43 calculated, and that was taking it pretty easy on her... I could easily get 48+ with my prior three with the 15's...

Granted the new Gen 4's really do regenerate so much easier so maybe that's the reason for the less so of a difference??

In price? PCP adds $1537 invoice, $1705 MSRP. Touring already includes most of ATP and it isn't a separate option. If you're asking about feature differences, I'll refer you to Toyota's site or many other threads here.

Was getting 60-64 MPG on my two gen 3's going to work and the last drive I did on the 2009 Touring was maybe 57MPG. But different locations so hard to compare data.

Ok, no wonder I am confused. Most of the ATP stuff is included in the Touring Four, plus I have PCP. I believe the heads up display and moonroof are not included.

Did you test drive both a Gen 4 Four and a Four Touring back to back before buying?

If I was careful, I could get 52 MPG tanks on my commute in a Gen3 with 15" wheels. I get between 57 and 61 with a Gen4 touring on the same route. I've seen as high as 68 on individual trips. This is in the Texas summer, and a combination of freeway and surface streets. A non-touring will do better, still.

The 2016 Touring is really getting great MPG. 64 Gen 3 at best versus mid 70s at best on my work commute.

So my thread is labeled wrong and nothing can be done to fix it. ARGH! PCP not ATP. Oh well.

PCP was a nasty drug anyway.

Nope. It like that first date with a pretty girl. This one will do fine.
