If your manufacturing is in UK you will have huge import fees tacked on for the EU sales. This is part of the reason EU stays with home-grown diesel and Prius is not so popular due to import fees.

Here's what they say about FORD:
So I am saying the implication of this thread that something is wrong with Prius per se is not really on target

but again, what other mfg.'s are having profit problems, and losing sales outside the green arena?

ford can blame the economy, but we're all in it, so, they shouldn't be the only one with problems.

There are no import fees on UK produced cars. Or any other UK produced goods. This is one of the main purposes of the EU - a common market for people, goods and services (too bad that for online music and videos, that doesn't work - that's where the content lobbies do what they want).
There is a lot of diesels in the UK too. And the Auris built in the UK also comes as a diesel.
In the EU in general diesel=saving fuel. And in many EU countries, diesel at the pump is cheaper than regular gas.
The EU commission started a while ago to discuss a rule by which all fuels are prices based on their energy density, rather than other arbitrary reasons, but I guess the german car lobby selling polluting cheating diesels, had the better part of it all and it never went through...
Also trucks are on diesel, so....

...but what impact will Brexit have on UK cars if they leave the common market?

Exactly. And no one knows yet because the Brexit terms have not yet been advanced yet alone finalized. GM/Opel's build and market is primarily based in the EU. Ford's build primarily in the UK, with a large EU market component. Anything less favorable than today and it disproportionately hurts Ford.
