Went to a drive-in movie the other night and this raised a couple of problems I hadn't considered before deciding to go. For those who don't know (I didn't) the audio for the movie comes via the car radio, so the car needs to at least be turned to accessory mode.

Problem 1 - in any mode other than accessory, the lights automatically came on. The best we could do was turn the stick from Auto to DRL only. There isn't an OFF option on the EU model apparently. It was a warm night so it would have been handy to be able to turn to electrics mode.

Problem 2 - the car, no matter the mode, switched itself off after 30 minutes of nothing happening.

Can I do anything about either of these things - turn the lights OFF while the car is in any mode but accessory, and prevent the auto switch-off - before we go back to the drive-in?

i'm guessing that it won't shut down in ready mode, and you can use a/c. headlights are another issue, never heard of no off mode before.

Hmmm - mine don't seem to do that here in Australia too - they do with the POWER on, but not accessory). Where are you - your profile is blank?

I assume that your taillights would be off, though?

US Models have an option to disable DRLs. Also you should leave your car on at the drive in. It will maintain the temp and not turn off unexpectedly, and most of the time the engine won't run.

problem is, with mine, the DRLs would light if I had it "ON".

Do you suffer the same limitation that our friends the Canadians have?

This isn't in the Australian manual either, so I assume can't be modified - in fact our manual is VERY different. YbD5LQYMfbNCHBW24NStWhfR.jpg

I'm in Belgium/EU and seems we have the same restrictions as some other places - the DRL cannot be turned off with the car in any mode other than accessory. The auto switch-off for the car (radio, engine, etc.) happens in any mode, including accessory, ignition on and ready.

I've included some images of the abridged manual I have, including the stick, and a screengrab of the more comprehensive online manual.

My low tire light on my '06 and '11 on the dash was disconcerting, but a small piece of electrical tape made it disappear, out of sight out of mind, I'f I were to frequent outdoor movie sites(in the UK or OZZ), I'd leave the car running and cover any exterior lights with cloth or something similar, just customize, slightly.

Hey Lucifer, you need to watch the Preacher on AMC. A little to perverse for me.
