Just got done making the deal for a 2005 Prius with 4000 miles!
    Really!

This one was purchased by an older couple as a second car and evidently sat in the garage and averaged 223 miles per year somehow?

Last year they had most major items that could be wear items replaced including the batteries and I have spoken with the dealer that did the work.

It really is like a new 2005 Prius somehow!?

I was looking at a much newer model but when I found this one I just could not let it go so I pick it up in the morning and the journey begins.

I am pretty excited for sure.

According to a friend of mine in the car business it is what they call a "Unicorn".

Also I have a nearby Toyota Dealer as a major client of mine so I have little concern about getting any issues fixed for the right price and they also gave me a Green Light on this one.

I have never found anything like this before, have you?

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Glad to be here

    Ed

image.jpeg A steal of a deal, for sure!
When you say both batteries, do you mean both the 12-volt and the high voltage traction battery? The latter is quite expensive and should not have failed due to mileage, but may have failed due to lack of use, which would still be unusual.
It also looks pretty, so have fun and welcome to PriusChat!
(And don't pay any attention to the crazy people in the 600-, 700-, and 800-mile clubs.)

My understanding is that they did replace the big battery pack as well as the 12v one.

I will probably have it at my dealer this week for the to really tear into it so I can know for sure though.

I am still pretty much in shock over this all the way around!
I was not expecting to make a find like this one at all but am pretty fired up now!

As a first silly newb question,is it possible to use an aftermarket radio/nav unit at all with the factory touchscreen unit?
I will be researching this for sure but has anyone gotten this to work really?

It won't kill me if not but.......

Did that before I even drove the car.
Like I said I am tight with the dealer that I do work for so they ran the VIN for me ahead of time.

No one there could accept that this one had the mileage that it does but the service records back it all up.

    It is a little crazy!

then there's no need to tear into it. if the service shows $2,600.+ for a hybrid battery replacement, it's done.

    Good point.
I will have them look it over closely anyway though just in case.
    Thanks

as far as replacement h/u, some people have issues with steering wheel controls. i would browse the audio forum.

So are there really head units that will interface with the screen then?

Well this car uses the screen to operate much of the car so I can not imagine taking it out?
The Radio seems to be a headless single DIN unit down lower in the dash that is accessed entirely thru the screen on top of the dash,I don't think the car can live without the screen but I have been wrong before,or so I am told.

OK after a night searching around this forum I have a good handle on my options I think and what is real and what is not so now I jst need to decide which direction to go and break out the chain saw!

I will likely go with a double DIN Nav. unit from wherever I can find the best deal, probably a Kenwood for the Garmin Nav too.
Then I will stick the remote head from a Yaesu FT8900 in the pocket with the door and mount the radio in the back where the battery is and the antenna will be.

I will start a thread in the correct forum when I start.

I did pickup the car Today too and have been driving everywhere it in,go figure and it is already starting to eat away at me when I do not see the bars go up for Mileage, damn this thing is luring me in!
I need to get my phone mount in there and maybe the Scan Gauge but it is so perfect inside I am hesitant to attach things to it.

    Talk about first world problems.

    Thanks!!!
