2016 White Dashboard blinding under intense sun....

I am sun blind. I knew from the moment I saw that color combo that it would never work for me. I'm surprised that more people aren't blinded by it.

 

Sometimes I don't believe Toyota designers ever get behind the wheel. My rental has that white dash!

 

Somehow white has not been bothering me too much as of glare. It is the chrome and multimedia screen that had blinding glare on me couple times. As soon as there is an applique that is worth buying, I would consider getting it.

 

Once in a while yes it not that bad.

I noticed the bad glare during the test drive and went with an all black interior.

You are talking about the "Moonstone" interior color, correct? I like the Moonstone color in the cloth. It's more "silver" than white. But the SofTex fake leather is pure white! That was my first thought... will it reflect up into the windshield? This is the first post I have seen about it. Maybe those people can get a dark dash cover.

 

I have the moonstone cloth with the part silver dash and don't seem to have an issue with it and I live in Florida.

 

My Prius has the "old man beige" interior color. With that large, light-colored strip across the dash.

It's odd, but I don't get any reflection up into the windshield... I get a reflection in the side windows. Sometimes it obscures the outside door mirrors.

 

I like my Moonstone. Less visible dust!

 

If dust isn't visible - it can't be there!!!

 

anyone have a pic of this 'white dash? i've seen the cup holder/console, shifter and lower steering wheel.

 

Interesting, if there really is a angle of sunlight that causes the white dash to reflect into the windshield. Wonder how Toyota could had done this. Even though white was not an option for me. I did sit in one to see how the dash could work. It did because it's black toward the front. I'm going to try putting a white paper on my dash.

I have the white dash and Moonstone seats. My eyes are usually sensitive to glare but in 3 months I have had no problem with the white dash or the seats. Maybe it is the angle of the sun here in Hawaii? One thing I have noticed it does affect the automatic exposure of my video camera.

 

The white is actually not very visible while driving. Past the dash board and starting before the speedometer, the dash is black/dark grey. My "urinal" cupholders and phone charger look yellow in this pic, but it isn't.

Like others have said, I never see a reflection up into the windshield. So Toyota must have done it right with the Prius. (The dash on my '05 Camry always had a reflection in the glass. Very annoying.)

 

First Prius I test drove had the white interior. I really liked how it looked and thought it was different and maybe it'd help keep the interior cool. I drove it at night, and I felt that the white dash "flashed" at me as I went under street lights. Okay maybe I'll get used to that I figured. Next day I drove it on a clear day and even with my sunglasses on (maui Jim polarized, not junk) the dash was still too bright for my taste. Without the glasses on I felt it was blinding but to be honest I only gave it about a minute test, not long enough for my eyes to adjust. I still like how the white interior looks, but I wouldn't buy it. If I did end up with one I would be looking for a dash matt
