Actually, in the latest Star Wars film "The Force Awakens", a first order storm trooper relinquishes his position and adopts the name "Finn."

Ok, so the Four has the SofTex? White Moonstone SofTex seats and dash? That is definitely "Storm Trooper" looking. :) I like it.

    (Or am I mistaken?)

Kevin, how come you didn't get that color combo? Your Four has SofTex?

Maybe my wife has an account on here and wrote the above ?

My Mrs felt the same way as you did almost word for word on what you wrote. Hopefully your sunroof doesn't whistle.

I kind of feel like the whole process goes south when it's time to talk to the finance person. I try always to pay cash, but I still have to work with these people because they want to sell me a extended warranty, which I don't want any part of. So, once I say no thank you its like I've taken ice cream away from a child. They get snarky and can't take no for an answer. Then I leave, like get a clue.

Yeah, sometimes those finance guys are more "hard sell" than the regular sales people. My guy couldn't believe I was refusing to buy the $2500(?) warranty, and the $1200 wax job. After that, his friendly face disappeared.

But this time, there was no mention of "underseal protection." Every other car I ever bought, they pushed the spray-on underseal. Why not on the Prius?

Yes. Black softex. Remember the black and white theme.

That was a non issue. Since a teabag placed carefully inside the headlight bowl creates a wonderful cuppa once those LEDs boil the water.

I told my wife. The salesperson is a walk in the park compared to the finance office - part deux of the whole being mentally abused process. One is so worn out by then, they just sign.

I actually like haggling so I don't mind it. This was only the second time I tried to trade in a car. The first time, their offer was so ridiculous (the car was 5 years old) that I said no and sold it to a friend. This time, I did get a side offer from someone but because I didn't know how serious the issues were, I told them it might not be wise. Anyway, I haggled both the price down and the trade in price up.

Yes. I got the moonstone and it is so light that it seems to be a shade of white. It does look really good and storm troopie. I'm happy they found one for me. I was willing to settle for beige because that was all that was in inventory in northern California. They wouldn't tell me where the supplying dealership was but I got the sense it was south of Fresno. Maybe Bakersfield? The car had 200 miles on it when I took delivery. That, I don't like but I like the light interior more so it's all good.

Light interiors seem cooler to me. Whether that is true or not, I can't say. I do know (because I've tested it surface temps) that any exterior color other than white is much hotter by at least a factor of two.

The other reason I prefer a light interior is that I do lots of night driving in remote areas and if I'm looking around in my cabin, I can find my stuff without turning on a cabin light.

I have found the best time to buy is when I really do not need to have a new car and the dealer has rising inventory. If we can achieve a deal I am happy with and they can do a deal is done. If not I walk and keep driving the current vehicle. It eliminates the stress because I set no expectations going in.

Enjoy your new ride. Once you do the deal do not look back. It sounds like your timing was excellent on the purchase.

The inventory of Prius models does seem to be high this year. When I was in Utah a couple months ago, a sales guy at the Toyota dealership there told me that they haven't been moving this year. They had a ton of them on the lot. They offered me $3200 in factory and dealer discounts back then and I wasn't committed to what I wanted.

During my negotiations this week, I was ready to walk out of the deal at any time. My trade in was in excellent condition and I was fine with keeping it for a while. I'm glad things worked out. I think I got a good price on the car and a somewhat acceptable price on the trade in. I was looking at putting in two or three thousand dollars on the old car this next year for tires, brakes, a tune up... standard maintenance stuff. I don't think that I'd get low cost financing at this rate with my credit union down the road.

A white Prius, with black & white SofTex seats, and the "Darth Vader" center screen..... Awesome.
