Finished the first tank ( from the dealer fill up)
MFD shows 61.2, and calculated at 61.461
Very impressed so far with the results. Used a/c everyday set at 70 F, 50/50 highway & city, tire pressure at 42 all around, mostly eco & some power mode ( to try it out )

"No ma'am. ETP told me to inflate my tires to 42 psi!!"

Decided to fill up this morning with about 1/8 of a tank shown, still had about 100 miles on DTE.

Filled up with 575 miles, 9.154 US Gal which which equates to 62.8 MPG, Prius reported 62.5 MPG making 0.5% off. Now being the first tank I estimate it will take a few fill ups to iron out most of the inconsistencies with variances in gas pumps shutting off early or too late.

as I read this thread, I see that manufacture calculation is generally about 2-4 MPG higher than hand calculations for people

I'm not sure if mine is working properly. it always tells me I'm doing 85-89MPG at the end of each 8 miles trips, which would translate to more than 80 MPG in reality

I find 80+mpg on every trip hard to believe. I had gotten 75MPG with gen3 a couple times, but not every trip
I'll see if it matches reality when I do my first tank in a few months? current miles until refill displayed on my gen4 is 808 miles

should I be believing any of these gen4 numbers my Prius is showing?

You're probably getting near 80 MPG. Depends on where you live, how you're driving and a whole lot of factors. Another thread someone thought their gas gauge was broken because they had 700 miles on the tank and still showed over a quarter tank.

My first fill up showed the opposite, the computer calculated slightly less mileage than what I calculated by the pump, but that was only one fill up. I'm assuming you're still on the first tank?

Could be true. My best is 77 on the MFDisplay and 72 calculated on an 800+ mile tank - so it is possible.

I see. that definitely makes me less nervous. I thought I had to figure out a way to manually check if tank is almost empty myself

It doesn't matter how I drive...

    Or what "mode" I use...

Or how fast (or slow) I go...

Or what pressure I have in the tires...

Or if I'm driving in the city, on the freeway, or a combo of both...

After I've gone thru a FULL tank, (or even 1/2 tank) my MPG display is always at 60.

    Just 60.

Did I tell you, I always average 60 MPG?

My HAL-9000 does not lie! And he LOVES

    60 MPG, and 40 PSI,
is the answer to all things in the Universe! (Thanks, ETP!)

I have to say the area I'm in is kind of unique.... We have steep hills, some aren't so steep, but it is almost a science figuring out when do glide, how far up the HSI scale to go in EV or climbing a hill.. I'd say it all makes a difference and makes it a bit fun to drive... Then again I work in IT and love anything that has graphs and numbers and so on.

The problem I face is that most people who hyper mile are in the city so a lot of the things don't apply do me because I have to drive 45-60 MPH on all the roads. It is quite possible on short trips to get insane mileage depending on the routes and so forth... Mine are pretty predictable...

Ho Hum, another 70+ calculated tank - 740 miles on this one.
The difference is that I drove the entire tank on the PWR mode, which was a first for me - homage to Coast Cruiser. For the first 100 miles or so I did not like it. Way too touchy and hard to keep in the "green" zone. But, eventually I adapted to it and by the end of the tank I honestly could not tell the difference.
Now I know how far 200 gallons of fuel will go...

I got 82 today... the "from the flag" MPG coming home from the dealer. But it was only 30 miles, and I was on a jam-packed stop & go freeway doing 30 mph. :ROFLMAO:

And the Trip A, which is currently at 120 miles driven... jumped up from my usual 60 MPG, up to 69. So, the secret to life, is to never drive a Prius over 30 mph, and preferably 25. :D

(I'm curious to see what affect, if any, the dealer's Pennzoil Platinum Synthetic oil will have. And nobody knew if the oil in that big tank is 0W-20, or 5W-20. :ROFLMAO:)

Kevin, I no longer notice a difference with the gas pedal when in the PWR mode. Maybe just a very little difference. It adapts to our driving style?

I think the loose nut behind the steering wheel is the one that adapts...

I went back to ECO mode. Seems a little sluggish - I love it!
