Yes, there are still a few around. Not many. When I was a kid, there was one only a 1/2 mile from the house. It was there for 30 years I think.

But no shortage of ice cream parlors....

Looks better than a Red Prius.

    51 MPG??? In ECO mode?

    What the heck happened?!

I used the "From the Flag" MPG display. Another early morning 75 mile freeway drive, at steady speeds of 73 to 77. Last time I drove this route, the display showed 67 MPG at the finish... Same route; Same speeds. I wonder what changed? So much for ECO!

On the way back, I switched to PWR mode. The results were only slightly better, at 54 MPG. Same speeds; Slight different route home. Very odd. I never had that low MPG before. Welcome to reality!!

Ok, it's only 150 miles... and there's certainly nothing wrong with 54 MPG... but that's quite a drop from 67 MPG, down to 51-54? (Maybe I forgot to take the brake off.) But it's all good. No problemo. I'll Be Back!

    -----

Interesting note: On the way home, I got a bit lost and took an unfamiliar freeway. There's a long gradual downhill... A sign reads: "Watch Downhill Speed." Yeah, Ok. So I'm just buzzing along, oblivious to everything, no traffic at all... And before I knew it, the White Knight speedometer showed 96 MPH!!! No kidding. I couldn't believe it! Back off them hogs!!! :ROFLMAO: HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN GOING THIS FAST?!
    5 minutes?

But you know what was great? It didn't even feel like 96! I was amazed and surprised. The Prius just hugs the road and handled beautifully! (But it was a nice smooth freeway.) And surprisingly the car wasn't any more noisy than when I was doing 70. Maybe my ears were plugged up. :D (And I will never go that fast again!)

My drive home from the dealer was 1300 miles, most of it at the posted 75mph. Got an even 50mpg (displayed), and that was the worst. Been working on raising the lifetime average ever since.

50 was always my "good job!" goal in Gen 2-3. Now the goal is 60, in a touring. Numbers from non-touring owners are impressive, but I'm happy.

It is easy to speed with the 2016 since the engine is really smooth.

You're not kidding, as I found out this morning. The engine and the road manners was very smooth. Speeding down that long hill, I let off the gas pedal but the Prius doesn't really slow down. Where is the re-gen breaking ow whatever!?

And I couldn't downshift like in my Camry. So I just lightly started to brake, and thankfully the brakes worked very well. Man, that was pretty scary for a few minutes.

I "pushed the outside of the envelope"… :ROFLMAO:

I'm glad all the Highway Patrol officers were at the donut shop.

Edit to correct: "where is the re-gen braking or whatever?"

This voice activated typing does not work very well. Sorry.

Oh, and you really won't believe THIS either...

Towards the bottom of that long downhill, a White Gen3 Prius blew right by me! No joke.

HE PROBABLY THOUGHT I WAS A BIG WIMP.

I personally am scared of dying these days. When I was younger I did not care.

Need to be in a huge tank if I am driving reckless.

Yes, it was totally an accident. I was enjoying all the scenery and rolling hills and being distracted, and didn't even realize I was going that fast. I'm glad there was no traffic.

That car sure is smooth. And even at those high speeds, the EV light was still coming on.

And another thing I learned about the PWR mode, it has a pretty good kick to it when you're doing about 70. The power is there if you need to pass.

Yes, driving a Mach 1 Shelby from Chicago to St Pete at pretty 100MPH on I-75 for the whole trip and sometimes faster (noticed 120 a few stretches). Drove all night and all day non stop except for gas. Purred like a kitten. Man that was a car. Good training for my next job.
Only Ford I ever cared for. Think it was a 68/69 end of year model 4 speed 4V with the ram air scoop and Shelby engine.
