New User, should be a new owner this weekend

Hi all,

I want to introduce myself to the forum. This weekend I hope to be picking up my new (to me) 2009 Prius. From the research I've done, it appears to be a package 5, because it seems to have about every feature except for leather and heated seats. I admit, I am a long time Prius hater, but I've come to a point in life where a car should be more of a tool than a toy, and the Prius really makes sense for that. Life shouldn't be horrible with the Premium sound system though, so long as I can get music from my iPhone to play.

The car, as I said, is a 2009 model 5, with 77000 miles. It is currently being sold at a dealer, and the car fax shows a one-owner, no accident history.

 

Haha maybe one day. New born son so money isn't EXACTLY on my side right now. I'm hoping the JBL system will at least be adequate if not better, but we will see.

 

Last car is sold already, t'was a Miata. I have money for a car, just not to blow on unnecessary things.. yet

 

UPDATE: I picked up the car from the dealership. Overall I'm happy with the car, but I was NOT happy with Mac Haik Ford Lincoln in Georgetown, TX. Over the phone, I asked several questions about the condition of the car, and i was given very direct answers. Some examples:

Q: Is there evidence that the car has previously been smoked in?
A: Absolutely not. We can tell that the previous owners did not smoke in the car, and there is no evidence of dog or other pets being in it.
Reality: Quite possible that they didn't have pets, but it smelled VERY strongly of stale cigarettes and a very feeble attempt to cover it up. Furthermore, there were the typical ashy burn marks along the window seal (fortunately it seal wasn't actually burned through)

Q: I know that the Prius armrests have a tendency to gather a lot of dirt and oils, but I can't tell from the pictures how the armrests are on this one. Can you tell me?
A: They look like they've been very well taken care of! Obviously this isn't a brand new car, but the armrests aren't an issue
Reality. ALL of the armrests have excessive wear, and the fabric on the center was coming off in the typical spot.

In addition to that, they didn't even clean the car, exterior MAY have gone through the dealership carwash, but the interior was HORRIBLE. windows all dusty and grimy, floor mats in horrible shape with all kinds of mud and dirt and grossness on them. I spent 45+ minutes cleaning EACH of the front mats to get them to acceptable condition. They sold the car with only half a tank of gas, and wouldn't even fill it up as a courtesy even though they knew I drove nearly 200 miles to come and get it. They said no, which was VERY disappointing. Then come to find out it wasn't even half a tank because I ran out of gas at 2 pips. Lesson learned.

Now the car is at a detailer to remove the smoke odor with an ozone generator and to (maybe) get the interior up to a cleaner grade.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the car overall, though the window switch piece on the driver's door is loose and rattle with even low-volume music, so I may have to go in and try to tighten that up or Dynamat the door panels.

 

Thanks! We got it back from the detailer and he got all of the grime and smells out of the interior. It was a hard $220, but well worth it!!

I've already given the car a nickname, nothing clever but i call her beigefordays. I'll let you guess why.

A few questions I have that I haven't been able to find the specific answer to though: Is the mpg readout always very pessimistic about the mpg? according to it, my first full tank averaged 38.8, but when I didn't the math of distance traveled by gallons refilled, it came out to 44.1, which is obviously much preferred. Secondly, when I ran out of gas on the way home, the gauge still showed 2 pips. When I refilled, it was down to three pips and I only put in 8.6 gallons. I know from reading that the gauge is inaccurate, but is it also inconsistent?
