I picked up the Toyota Cargo Net for the 2016 Prius (Gen 4). It had no installation instructions. I think I mostly figured out how to install it using trial and error, but there are parts left over and I would just be nice to know I got it right.

I've been Googling but all the videos and other sites that come up are for Prius c or v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) cargo nets. Does anyone have access to the instructions for the 2016 Prius Gen 4 net please?

Call your dealer's parts department and ask them to print the instructions for you. The instructions should be on the TIS (Toyota Information System?) site, which is not accessible to owners. Crazy but this is how it works.

I agree with the crazy, but will do, thanks!

I'm a fair drive from my dealer so if anyone has them, I'd appreciate a scanned copy in the meantime.

The spyder net or the vertical net?

I just realized that it would make sense if Danny at the PriusChat Shop would post pdf's of the instructions for the Toyota Accessories sold on the website so they are downloadable to owners who purchase Toyota Accessories from the Shop. Or if that would upset Toyota, perhaps he could attach pdf's of the instructions to the invoices he emails to customers? Danny, are you there?

The only spare parts I believe I had were the plugs or caps the pop in to cover the hook screw. There are two sets. Flat ones are for models with retractable covers. The others that have rounded extensions are for the other cover that raises when opening the hatch. I left them all off as I couldn't get them to pop in place.

They are a nice detail missing from previous generation cargo nets. Another attention Toyota made to details in the Gen 4.

They refer to it as the envelope cargo net I think. You can view it here:

Toyota Prius Interior & Exterior Accessories

    merged.

    Agreed.

    Merged.

Ah, okay! That's what those rounded ones are for. I couldn't make sense of why they were included. Well, that solves the spare parts question, thanks!

And since the net seems to be staying put, I'll just assume that I got it right.

Gotcha, so to install that net simply hook the bottom corners to the D rings on both sides then stand the net up as it would look installed, then unscrew the screws on both sides of the body of the hatch area and reinstall the screws with the provided Hook threaded onto the screw... then hook the top left and right corners of the net to the hooks you just installed.

    Case closed ;)

The spider net is even easier. Just lay it out flat in an empty hatch and hook all 4 corners to the D rings on each corner of the trunk.

I've had both styles in my Prii's and they both work good. Consider the Spider net too as it really helps secure stuff that would normally roll all around in the hatch. Just pick up the front of it and stuff what ever under it. Ie. Balls, groceries, carton of milk, etc.

Also remember to use the little fold down hooks on either side of the hatch for grocery type bags.. They work great. Hook the handle of the bags and roll out..

Do you have a link to the spider net please?

Thank you. I notice that it doesn't include 2016 so I'll wait for them to either update the info or release one that fits.

I got mine installed Ok. Works great to hold grocery bags. BUT... what boneheaded bean counter made the decision to NOT include instructions?! Ridiculous! One simple small piece of paper.

And any chance that the Prius Chat Shop will be getting the Gen4 door sill protectors any time soon? Juiced hybrid doesn't have any. It would be really nice if they match the chrome rear bumper protector.

The Spider Cargo Net for the 2010-2015 Prius does NOT fit the 2016. I know because I was going to use mine from my 2012 for my 2016. The net lies down against the hatch floor in the 2012 but is suspended several inches above the hatch floor in the 2016. I gave the net to my salesperson who made sure it was given to the people who had just bought my 2012 (two or three days after I traded it in!).

I bought a spider net by ANDYGO for my 2016 last week on Amazon for $9!!!! Works perfectly and a fraction of the OEM price.

Amazon.com: AndyGo® Floor Style Trunk Cargo Net For Toyota Prius 2010-2016 New: Automotive

I did spend the cash at the dealer for the horizontal cargo net but my salesman hooked it up and gave it to me at cost (which turned out cheaper than Amazon prices). Got all my nets now. Lol!!
