I am curious; what car/truck/bike/boat did you give up to get your Prius v/a/+?

I'll start. I gave up my 2014 Outback Premium to get into a used 2012 Prius v two.
I shall miss eyesight and high ground clearance.

I sold a 01 Honda Accord and a 02 Toyota Tundra for the v. Already had a 2008 Prius (and still have it).

Our 2012 v Five replaced a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan.

I gave away a 2003 Toyota Sienna XLS mini-van with 103K miles to a friend and bought a new 2014 Prius V. I used the Sienna only for commuting and it cost me $55.00/week (with gas around $3.75/gal). Now I use the Prius 7 days a week for around $18.00.

Interesting. The v was on the shopping list when we bought our Outback. Safety features were #1 on the list but our regional v's didn't come with the tech package at that time so went with the subie and have been very happy with it.

I traded in my 2012 two liftback for a loaded v five. Took about a 5 mile per gallon hit, but it's a much nicer car and has a ton of space. ❤️

Sold a 1997 Honda Civic LX, bought 2012 Prius V Five in spring 2014.

We cross shopped Mazda 5, Subaru Forester, Dodge Grand Caravan / Journey. The 5 doesn't have the skyactiv engine, the Outback is overpriced in my area, and the dodge vehicle were just meh. All got 2x worse gas mileage compared to the V. Easy choice.

Sold my 2001 Solara Convertible, then bought a new 2011 Prius 2. Do I regret it? You betcha.

The 2012 Prius v replaced a 1998 Toyota Camry LE V6 that had a hard-to-find package that included ABS, traction control, JVC audio and a number of exterior features that made Camrys with the package easy to identify. I've seen maybe five others in all these years.

The Camry was in virtually new condition at 125K miles when it went to a 14 year old nephew but it's looking a bit ratty these days.

Sold a 2001 Honda CRV in great shape and a 2001 Porsche Boxster S likewise. Not a matter of money, but tired of juggling cars into the garage or onto the parking area. Plus the Porsche was 50 miles away from a servicing mechanic and I was only driving it 2k miles per year. My age might have had something to do with it... 70+.

Why the v? Something different ranked as high as economy/green. It is both boring and fun at the same time. Boring in its utility and reliability. Fun in its display of economy. Has been everything I expected. Isn't that the ultimate compliment?

I have a bad back. Chiropractor gave up on me the other day. I had to go 50 miles and 50 return today. Could have taken my wife's plushmobile. Took the v.

I had a 2013 VW Jetta TDI. I miss the torque of the VW. I first drove a 2012 v, but decided that I didn't like the whining of the engine up the hills, so I sold my 2003 Jetta Wagon TDI and bought a 2013 Sportwagon TDI. I never was in love the the '13 the way I was with the '03, the emissions scandel clinched it. I traded in the '13 TDI on a 2015 v Two

My experience was similar. I test drove a 2014 Prius v and hated the engine drone up the hill. I was driving a 2005 Subaru Outback XT (turbo) at the time--talk about effortless speed. So I bought a 2014 Subaru Outback 2.5i. Now in 2016 I ended up trading it in for a used 2012 Prius v. The CVT drone of the 2014 Outback isn't so different from the 2012 Prius drone and going from 170hp to 130hp isn't so bad.

Selling my 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo SS. Driving about 100 miles a day so I bought a 2017 Prius v. Plenty of room for a 6'5" body and still gets 17 MPG more than the Monte.

It's always hard to see great cars degrade. It's all about the maintenance, having a great base is just the start.

I always gasp when I see Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus vehicles on their 3rd+ owner looking terrible, rattling with a Sub in the trunk.

The V isn't so bad when it's in PWR mode.

2006 Infiniti G35. That thing guzzled fuel like there's no tomorrow. We literally spend a third of the money at fill-ups for our 2016 Prius V Four.

I gave up a 2004 Honda Accord manual transmission sedan. This is the first automatic car that I've driven, since my first car, over 20 years ago. The Accord had well over 300,000 miles, so it was time to finally part ways.
