Tires sound funny after not driving for 4 days

    Been away at a conference for work, and came back to find that the parking lot is being resurfaced and I have a fine black mist over my whole car. Seems to rub off when i touch it, so I'm hoping it'll wash off when I can get to it this weekend.

    I drove a few miles to do errands and noticed my tires are making a clicking noise--i liken it to the sound of a baseball card stuck in the bicycle tire. It gets louder when I brake. I'm guessing it's just from the car sitting for a few days and needing to unstick. The extra tar in the parking lot probably doesn't help.

    Really forgot some basics while i've been gone. My neighbor texted me about 8 hours after I came home to tell me my lights were on. Luckily it's because I forgot to shut the car off and not just the headlights.

    Did it disappear as the tyres warmed up? Also, it could be gravel pieces caught up in the tread of the tyres (and glued there by the asphalt..

    The sound while just driving disappeared after a while but the braking still sounded louder than normal. But I only drove a couple miles and didn't feel like driving longer. I'll get a regular 35 mile day in tomorrow.

    I need to change something. In the past 2 days, I forgot to press the Power
    button off four times! I don't know what's wrong with me. :LOL:
    I set the parking brake, then push the "Park" button... then I just jump
    out of the car. See ya! Bye! Adios! :ROFLMAO:

    (and I won't mention that I drove half way to San Diego, and my hood was not closed all the way! I finally noticed it flapping in the wind. :eek:)

    Yes! Very thankful. It was dark when I began the drive, so I didn't notice the hood moving until the sun started coming up.

    You guys better take away my Magic Prius Key FOB, and revoke my membership!

    Tires are still really noisy this morning, kinda spooked me when I braked from 65 to 20 for a traffic jam--braked with plenty of time but it sounded like a hammer pounding rapidly ("jackhammer" sounds too dramatic, it wasn't that loud). But the sounds got lighter towards the end of my 17 mile commute, so hopefully whatever is gunked up on it is filing off.

    Does the car not beep at you ? If I get out of the car when it's still on taking the keyfob and close the door (any door) - the car beeps three times... it's quite annoying when getting out to open the garage door!

    Usually I will realize the power is still on before I even close the door. But yes, there's a (quiet) beep after the door is closed. (I need the horn to HONK!)

    Would you believe I just did it again this morning?!? :LOL: I parked on a very busy street, jumped out, was walking away and didn't hear the beeps because of the traffic noise... but something told me to go back and check. Sure enough.

    I give up!. I'm going to buy a Tacoma tomorrow. :ROFLMAO:

    I didn't drive thru the section they worked on but I imagine there was a tar mist on everything in the area, including the rest of the parking lot. Ya, it was noisy yesterday but today it seems normal again.

    This is a month-long resurfacing though, so I'm sure it will happen again. I just hope to not be home next time they are spraying the coating. It's coming off with Meguiars wash and wax but it's going to take some work to get it looking clean and shiny again.

    Ya, I may forget how to drive this thing but I've already tuned out the beeping warnings it makes. I barely notice the reverse beeping anymore either, and I actually like that as a warning that I'm in reverse. I don't like how you can't tell from the position of the knob .

    Yep, the back-up beeps don't bother me, and the big screen lights up with the reverse camera. I'm starting to like using that, and it even works good at night.

    When I was getting gas (petrol) yesterday, a man walked by the front of my car and says:
    "Did you know your hood is open?"
    I said, "Yes, I'm sucking in more air for the turbo."

    I wonder how long I was driving around with it unlatched? Again! That's twice! I don't remember opening it.
    It's been nice knowing you guys. I better start taking the bus. :confused:
