Lane keep assist?

IMO it's of no use really, especially seeing as it doesn't warn you until after you've crossed the line, by that time you could have already hit something.

 

I think it's great
1) It actually warns you before you get to the line or as you're nudging it; 2) it potentially will tell you if you're asleep; 3) it actually does redirect the car back toward where it should be - when I first got the car I never felt it, but now I feel it, it's not a big movement, but noticeable; 4) is a good incentive to use indicators when changing lanes etc - I wish every car had it just for that purpose; and 5) ... I've forgotten what 5) was - any ideas what I was thinking about?

 

Mine must be set up wrong then, it doesn't react until I'm about a foot over the line.

 

Increase the intensity. See if that helps.

 

I just checked and I had the sensitivity on low, I've changed it to high, I'll see how it goes next time I'm out. I also had the sway alert coffee cup set to high, no wonder it kept telling me to go for a coffee every time I turned the wheel, I thought Toyota had some vested interest in Costa for a while there.
Saw another new message today telling me the windscreen washer fluid was low, I wondered why it didn't have the little dipstick in the bottle like the gen 3 did, now I know, it has a sensor......... whoo hoo .

 

That was why my wife opted to have me get the ATP on my 2016-3 in spite of having to pay for Nav and a moon roof. It yells at me for not using my turn signals when changing lanes so that she doesn't have to.

Call me set in my ways, but I have logged damn near a million miles of driving so far, having a vehicle that sounds an alarm because I am not centered in my lane seems quite ridiculous. I mean, how did I ever keep my vehicles in my lane all of these years without this feature? No thanks.

 

Eh sonny, I've been driving almost 60 years and never needed it either. My wife disagrees now.

I still can't figure out how to set the Coffey request up? Can someone walk me through that pls. My LKA is working fine I just don't have the Coffey icon ever pop up?

2016 three w/ ATP...

 

Main settings menu on the MFD, scroll up or down to find the coffee cup sway alert setting, select on/off or select sensitivity.
Set the sensitivity to high and do a couple of sharp lane changes in and out and it will come on.

 

I just tried this and the only thing I can do on that screen is turn the LKA on or off with the button next to the DRCC on the steering wheel. If I try to scroll up or down nothing happens and I can't find the sensitivity settings at all? Do the three's w/ ATP have the ability to adjust the LKA settings more than just on and off or are the systems different from a three w/ ATP to a four or four touring? Still no Coffey for me!!

 

Not sure, mine's a UK Excel, which is the top spec one here.

 

This function works so poorly, makes me wonder how/why self-driving cars do it so much better.

Mine works fine - it's only an "ASSIST" - it doesn't steer really, though sometimes it will actually do that. It warns you that you've strayed, and the movement of the wheel is supposed to help you back on the straight and narrow if you've maybe dozed, lost concentration.
