image.jpeg Well, I finally got pulled over for no front plate today after 1 year. So I installed the tow hook license plate bracket I got from @bino this evening. Looks better than I thought, actually better than that big bulky bracket that came with car.

Today's Project: Replace my tired G's puddle projector.

    upload_2016-10-22_20-41-0.png

I don't know exactly how long I've been using this one -- maybe around one year. As you can see it's getting faded and turning green. The LED in these things runs super hot - scorching hot. Even for the small periods of time that it's illuminated it seems to get so hot that it's damaging the transparency.

These puddle projectors come in two grades: $30, $95. My new $95 puddle projectors just came in.

Behold, my new puddle projectors to the left, and a fading cheapo to the right.

    upload_2016-10-22_20-46-0.png

WIth the hope of mitigating heat damage in the future I attached my own heat sinks.

    upload_2016-10-22_20-46-58.png

    And there it is.

    Today's Project, Supplemental: Sound Deadening

I've been trying to figure out exactly what the rubbing, shimmying noise was. It was kind of a long shot, but I thought I'd try wiping some WD40 on the weatherstrip seal on the doors and rear hatch.

    Wow! Big difference. Really!
No more squeaky rubbing noises in the cabin.

    So, there it is.

I had in-laws come in from out of state for the weekend, so naturally, I spent my day in the garage. I got a little bored and decided to re-badge...

It wasn't today, it was Thursday, but I spent $825 to fix a few scratches that most people would have just shrugged off. The husband didn't want me to have any visual reminders of his screw up on my car.

I added this nifty little tray to the otherwise awkward storage bridge.

Will it work with aftermarket head unit (Pioneer 6100NEX)?

The install is described on page 22 of the manual. Although the manual suggests that you purchase the Pioneer camera (Amazon product ID B00A037VHM), it doesn't flat out say that it's the only camera that will work.
    www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/AVIC-6100NEX_InstallationManual021915.pdf

It plugs in via an RCA connector and a single wire for the reverse signal. That's the way I connected my OEM camera to my Android head unit.
