I'm with fotomoto on this. Texas Hybrid Batteries installs factory new modules and other components in a recycled case - just like your local Toyota stealership would. I don't know how THB does it for such a low price but it's probably because not every module in the incoming failed pack is bad and THB uses them when rebuilding the used packs they also sell. So, if there's any chance you can get a loan to buy a new THB battery do so.

Greentec does not sell packs with new modules I believe - some people say that they don't have brand new ones in their packs. Re-manufactured packs are only as good as the place rebuilding them. Many people have had to have the rebuilt packs replaced several times and sure the warranty saves them but that doesn't cover the inconvenience of being without your car waiting for the next rebuilt one to be installed.

just have it rebuilt for under $500...its a 12 year old car with little value, there is no point in dumping thousands into it..new battery, rebuilt battery its worth the same to anyone who is going to buy it..im finding running 05's for under $2500 in florida so spending 3000 on a battery is insane

Ah Bb, you overlook the fact that the brand new modules have great resale value. If you invest $2200 for a pack with brand new modules from Texas Hybrid Batteries for example and your older Prius dies soon afterward then you can sell each module for about $50 on ebay or the entire pack to a Priuschat member for $1400. I would buy a pack with 2015 or 2016 modules in it in a hot second for that price if it became available and provided the seller had proof that the modules were new(er).

full packs never go bad so why change all the mods? change the 2 or 4 needed and get another few years out of the car, no one with common sense would spend 2200 to get 1400 back and deal with e bay nonsense , btw its a lot less than 1400 after fees and packing materials..i have a rebuilt pack from a 2008, 74000 miles been trying to get 800 for it for almost a year now..no takers, best offer was 350..again, no one needs a full pack just mods

Interesting how you ignore the second option - selling the entire pack to a Priuschat member for $1400. I have been around this site long enough to trust some of the people here. If one of them had a pack they didn't need any more and provided they could prove their pack contained newer modules, I would not hesitate buying it from them. And yes, selling individual modules on ebay would require paying a sellers fee. Packing materials cost wouldn't affect me because I have many adequately sized Amazon Prime boxes in my garage ready to reuse.

Your 2008 pack is old. No wonder no one wanted it for $800. Too risky. And not everyone can or wants to change out modules.

That's the confirmation code for a failed hybrid battery. Repair, replace with used/refurb, or get a new one from Toyota or move on to something else.

Although it would probably cost nearly the value of the car that it's currently worth but still make sense replace the pack as it's Still best to keep it since it's a Toyota, they last forever as they are not like your German Money Pit Machines like Mercedes-Benz, BMW... What strange is no one really knows how long they truly last since they are covered by 8 to 10 year warranty as some last longer than 10 years as it varies and some people have well past 150k like myself currently 166,000 miles on my 2009 model racked up quick, but the car is only 7 years old as mine is more than likely going to last well into the 200,000 miles depending how much I drive it and how much longer I keep it.

    Well. That is not good.
    Bad Hybrid Battery.
If I were looking at it I'd want a few more bits of data, but at least it is a staring point.

Since you are unable to repair yourself you would have to hire someone to do the work.
Brand NEW Toyota battery installed will likely be close to $3,000.

Your car is not worth much of anything as it sits.
Some might think $2,000. I'd say closer to $1,000.

You will need to make a difficult decision as to how to proceed.
I have plenty of people that simply replace with a new pack knowing that the pack will last as long as the original one, if not longer.

Good job! Those codes are indicators of a failed hybrid/high voltage battery. Feel free to contact me if you would like to get it replaced or rebuilt and reconditioned. I private messaged you last week with my contact info. and would be glad to help you any way I can. fyi-I also install the Hybrid Automotive reconditioning harness at no charge if you want that done as well.

Texas Hybrid Batteries installed a new battery in late May for me. I can vouch for their service. I was able to inspect the new battery and I was able to verify that the cells were produced in February 2016-if I remember correctly Matt mentioned that mine was the first battery he installed with cells made in the the year 2016.

You are correct about THB being able the to use the good cells from the failed packs they receive and resell. They make very little money off of the sale of new batteries, the money is made on the back end. I would presume that as the availability of good battery cores dry up, that gravy train will soon pull away from us and there will no longer be $2400 new battery packs including installation.
