Apologies Axle, I wasn't intentionally being rude, my comments were tongue-in-cheek, hence the smileys.;)
I think you're more on track with the weak ICE suggestion above.
At a guess, the Challenger issue was probably a programming issue, tied to engine temperature sensors, hence the new transmission didn't totally solve it.

Oh the original transmission blew up after only driving about 150 km or so (I had about 131 miles on the odometer when the tow truck got it). The report I got from the service manager was that the transmission internally seized. I barely got the car home. One thing I noticed was the smell of burnt transmission fluid when I did get home...so something definitely went wrong and sense you can't easily check transmission fluid on most new cars for all I knew it might not have had any transmission fluid in it!

After thinking more on the subject of the shuddering. Yeah, the fluid, at least in the case of the eCVT, probably not so much of a cause of anything being rough. I am curious about those who have had a Prius for a while and got past the 120,000 mile mark to replace spark plugs noticed any change...whether they noticed that the ICE was rougher starting up or anything a long those lines. I do remember reading that if you don't replace the spark plugs promptly you will likely have the coil packs fail as the spark voltage/current increases to compensate for worn plugs...

If it's any consolation, that feller's comment prompted me to hit the "ignore" button.

    Yup, same here.

Using snarky emoticons in a snarky reply doesn't make it nicey-nice, just makes it extra snarky.

Oh, I do :) I love it actually.

I'm also pretty well versed in the online art of jackassary, and if it walks like a duck... ;)

Getting a bit personal now, I never resort to name calling in any of my posts, but there is a saying, "it takes one to know one"
I did apologise to Axle before anyone else posted so there's no need for those comments
isn't ;) a bit snarky in this context too ?

Glad you like it, it is very strange to many people and like any single humour does not translate readily from the spoken word to the written page. Believe me we Brits also get confused with each others humour (humor) see what I mean and even dialects. American humor is much more open and probably less likely to be misinterpreted. Ours is often subtle and obscure and we also use sarcasm as wit without meaning to give any offence.

Remember, it has to quack like a duck as well if it is a real duck, but two out of three ain't bad.

True, we have to be aware and careful with comedy in the very diverse cultural base here in Australia.

I've often noticed that in a conversation, a witty comment will have my Irish or British mates roaring with laughter, but others standing wondering what it was all about. I've an Irish mate who tells the best Irish jokes - which the non-Irish wouldn't be game to.

The likes of Monty Python & the Goons - I've known people who just didn't get it. I guess I'm of (mostly) British/Irish ancestry [plus Jewish and Canadian I believe] and usually "get it" straight away.
