    Hi there,

I just got my first Prius a week ago, and I love just about everything about it, except the sound system. Before I start ripping things apart, I wanted to ask if this is a normal thing.

Basically, the audio quality is horrible.

Now I'm not expecting (nor do I want) window-shattering bass or angelic tear-inducing clarity. I just want "decent". Even when I play with the treble/mid/bass, the most I can get is "tinny".

Also I've found that "30" is the lowest volume level for anything to be audible.

This is the standard soundsystem, no JBL. Is this normal?

It depends on what your input is on. I can listen to my phone on Bluetooth just fine with the volume level on the highest on my phone and about 7-10 (sometimes louder on somewhat long trips with my fiance) on the radio itself. I haven't tried the aux input yet. I absolutely hate the radio stations since the volume has to be higher than 25 to hear something good out of it. Hope that helps out!

welcome! normal. some say new speakers work. if i were younger, i'd replace the whole head unit for a good one with car play or something useful.

I'm not trying anything with it's own variable volume - radio, satellite, USB stick. All kind of the same ):

Heh, I hear you. Last time I did that was over 10 years ago, and now that I think about it it was the last time I bought a used Toyota...

From what I'm hearing (here and on other forums) that does seem to be the case...

I'd consider changing the whole head unit, if I could get one with Android Play. But for some reason I can't seem to find one for less than $700...
