Thread for those lucky enough to have already gotten their new Prime and those who will soon have theirs. A place for those people to share things they have discovered about the car...both likes and dislikes...surprises...joys...learning curves...sharing pics...things the rest of us need to know about the experience.

I find that the steering assist for lane deviation is not as positive as the LKA was on my 2010. I can't feel it correct or, as I like to put it, guide the car down the road at all. I'm hoping I'm wrong because that's what made long road trips with dynamic cruise really, really pleasant.
Until I have more experience with it, I'll withhold the 'dislike'. It could be me. But I'm traveling from San Diego to Chico today, so we'll see.

At least there is still a manual and it is not only online.

They are different systems, that's why.

The 2010 has LKA (Lane Keep Assist)
The 2016/17 has LDA w/ SA (Lane Departture Alert w/ Steering Assist)

LKA is more active, constantly keeping you centred in the lane

LDA is semi-active. It'll only nudge you back when you're close to or have left the lane. If that happens, you'll see a yellow steering wheel icon appear on the dash (it'll be on the passenger side)

Yep, that's what I'm saying, I miss it. I really liked LKA.

Did LKA on 2010 sort of worked like Teslas Autopilot ?

I thought there was a way to check your charging status from an app. It's not in Entune as far as I can see.
Got mine yesterday so I can't say much yet. I do like seeing my battery only miles increase as I drive downhill. About to take it on a 20 mile or so roundtrip so that will be a good test.

No. Most because I don't want to give people a false idea of what LKA can actually do.

But what LKA does is it uses the camera to scan for lines (white or yellow) and it will keep the car centred in the lane. That means, if you're on the expressway, it can do some steering around wide bends. However, it will not steer if a car changes lane into you. It will not auto-change lanes for you by using the indicators etc.

Only Advanced with Safety Connect supports the smartphone control of charging, etc.

Yes.....I manage charging from my iPhone. There's a vast amount of info re: My use of energy, mpg, other Prime driver's driving habits (compared to mine). This comes with the "Advanced" version, and it's free for the first three years. I can also adjust the exact interior temp of the vehicle and cool/heat prior to arriving at the car.....by iPhone, Nice.

Did they fix the sun visor that everyone was complaining about on the 2016 regular prius?

The manual...784 pages of Japanenglish. 18 pages of "Operating the lights and wipers." Radar approval number for "The U.S.A. and Hawaii." Other things that are unguessable.

It needs tight editing by a good technical writer.

And still has noisy tires, and/or too much cabin noise... at least according to "Alex on Autos". He does excellent, in-depth car reviews. He's on YouTube and Alexonautos.com

Eventually. My intent is to write another User-Guide. It takes awhile to study, organize, and take photos though. I need to get my Prime first too.

    Here's the one for Gen-3 & PHV...
