There must be a support group for TRIPLET parents - they would be a valuable resource. You could find they have lots of suggestions from experience.

The boot (trunk?) on the PRIUS is actually quite spacious - compared with quite a few similar sized cars, the boot is wider and longer, rather than deep, and that could be of advantage for carrying a pram/stroller. If you haven't bought the pram/stroller, it could be worth looking at the folded size first.

You could also go to a baby goods shop (Costco etc probably sell them too, and cheaper and maybe not the deluxe type the baby shop would try to sell you) and start measuring widths.

BUT - before they get into seats, they are in baby carriers - OK, I'm not sure what they're called nowdays - my baby is 30 yrs old now. They were called Baby-Capsules them.

The PRIUS (and most non-vans) only has 2 ISOFIX anchors. The question would be - if 2 ISOFIX seats/baby carrier are installed, what gap is between the seats?

The manual indicates that you can install them 3 ways - using seat belt, ISOFIX and Top-Tether. I didn't read in great detail, but it seems to be saying that the centre seat has an anchor fitting on the back of the seat, and that may be the only way to install a seat in the middle position.

My memories are that it is sometimes difficult to reach between seats to plug in seat belts, but that was on smaller cars than PRIUS.

 

The manual indicates 3 places to install Car Seats - though it will depend on the width of the seat - my daughter (with 4 children, sometimes with 3 in seats (in a van-based vehicle) had a mixture of seats, and I noticed some seemed quite wider than others:

Congrats! I have 19 year old triplets of my own. Been there, done that. Whatever vehicle you use for their primary transport, trust me you're definitely going to want a minivan or something else with a 3rd row seat. Maybe Highlander Hybrid? Over 19 years ago I swore we'd NEVER have a minivan. And barely a week after they were born, I bought my wife a minivan, LOL.

The "Diono" car seat is (thinner) one that people use to get 3 across.
Here it is in our 2006 Gen2. 3 rear facing might be hard.
Might want to get a the "v" wagon w/ 7 seats in your Country.

Radian makes narrow child seats. Our daughter had three abreast in a Pontiac Vibe, then later in a Honda Pilot.

 

If I may I'd like to ask you about the crash. Did pre-collision system help you?
