Hey guys, morning. Got a some issues with a another 2008 prius yesterday.
Imported from the USA, has got 305176miles.
""""****car has only spent two months now**"""
Was called in yesterday to come rescue a Prius that's broken down. When I got there, these were my observations on the car, and what I have done so far on the car:

*Engine wasn't starting, and READY light wasn't coming on the dash.
The ready light not displaying, to me, has pointed out that there's something going on around the hybrid battery. So, would need to check the battery compartment area.

*fuel gauge level was just one bar, check engine light and ABS light on.

*12volt battery still intact. Has got capacity in it.

*Scanned the car with techstream, and are the results:

    Hybrid control P3000; P3004; P0A0F
    Engine and ECT P3193
    Hybrid battery: P0A80
    Occupant detection B1794, B1650
    SRS airbag B1200
    Gateway B1207, B1271
Also got the datalist for the hybrid battery system as follows:
    Batt blk max volts14.96
    Batt bkk min volts13.38
    Batt pack current0.03
    Batt blk volts 1: 14.97
    2: 13.99
    3: 13.71
    4: 14.61
    5:14.07
    6:13.88
    7:14.56
    8:13.70
    9:14.73
    10:14.04
    11:13.38
    12:14.01
    13: 14.15
    14: 14.96
    Batt SOC 0%
    Delta SOC 19%

    My conclusions
*would have to open up the battery compartment and check the high voltage connections, system main relays, Hybrid battery modules under load for capacity, etc.

    My ???????s
*what coukd have drained the battery that low? I know starting the car severally in an attempt to start could drain the juice
*is the excess mileage on this car(305176mi) responsible for the drain? I know NiMH batteries wear with ages, temperature and use. Or better still, the owner who sold the car in the USA might have deconditioned the battery before. This I can only tell if the hybrid battery module codes are checked for uniformity.

PLEASE!!!! If I'm wrong in my troubleshooting procedures, advice.
*eventually when I get the battery out, would do either of,
    1. Boost the hybrid pack as a whole, in parallel connections, to up the capacity, then allow to rest for 1hr. After the rest, then discharge and recharge to see if they measure up.
    2. Remove the modules individually, series charge/discharge then for 3cycles, allow to rest, before coupling the modules.
Check all buss bars, and battery for leaks
Which method would you advice me to use?

PS: triangle caution sign also showed up.
Since the day I joined Prius chat, have had notebook handy each day, making notes.

    Appreciate your responses.

P3000 - (hybrid) Battery Control System Malfunction. What’s the sub code on it?
P3004 - High Voltage Power Resource Malfunction. What’s the sub code on it?
P0A0F - engine failed to start. Look at the engine code(s) to find out why.
    P3193 – fuel run out.
P0A80 - Replace Hybrid Battery Pack

Probably what appenend is that it run out of fuel and then owner just kept on driving it until hybrid battery was empty.

If it was me I would:
Fill the tank with fuel. Slowly charge the hybrid battery to full and more so that every module and every cell in it would be charged to 100%. Then store and clear the codes. Then drive it and see if it works and what codes would come back. You may still need new hybrid battery but at least you will then be able to know what other problems it has.

Pls how do I get the subcodes? I used the techstream to scan the car. I basically went to the health check option and clicked. To get the subcodes, do I need to go to the hybrid control system on the techstream to get the subcodes function?
The fuel level is on the last bar already. Would get the tank filled up with gasoline.
Would get the battery working this week, and see how it goes.

    Thanks for the help valde3

Just press the snowflake icon from the fault code. That shows a lot of information from the moment the fault happened. First information is the sub code.

P3193 – fuel run out code was there so it is run out of fuel. North American Prius does have the bladder type gas tank and with it they have pretty inaccurate gas gauge so tank can be totally empty when gauge still shows one bar. You should really fill it up at 2 bars.
