Um, ok so I did one video..."review"

    Nobody watched it. #embarrassing.

So I made a shorter one in which I discovered its not a helicopter...or is it...

    Ah, thanks Grassman...

Yeh well figure of speech , I was v grateful for this forum, but in Youtube terms - that is a disastrous overall result, like dreadfully bad. SO I felt terrible and decided to take most of the jokes out and tighten it up and see if it ranks better on there.

How many watches it depends on how you market it. But I found your review to be somewhat superficial. Here are some observations I've made about Prius in my six years of ownership.

Prius was the first hybrid car ever. It was scrutinized, criticized, questioned... and today, hybrid design is proven. Prius is better than most cars sold. It's no longer a quirky car, it's one of the world's best-selling, highest mileage, quietest and most reliable.

    1) The Prius, and especially the Prius Plug-in, are very quiet. It's a very pleasant driving experience. Visibility is excellent, braking very smooth (and regenerative).
    2) The fuel economy means you can typically drive 500 miles or more between fill-ups, compared to the 325-ish range of most cars. This doesn't simply save you money, it saves you time. It's very convenient.
    3) Prius has proven to be extremely reliable and very inexpensive to maintain. Because it's one of the best-selling cars in the world, parts are very inexpensive. The regenerative braking means that brake pads are used very little, and often last over 200,000 miles. The first spark plug change happens at 120,000 and you can wait at least 80,000 miles before changing the radiator fluids.
    4) Prius is surprisingly spacious car. It comfortably seats four adults and hatch storage room is quite generous.

There are some things it's not:
    It's not a performance car
It's not a spacious luxury car
It isn't an SUV or minivan
It's definitely not a status symbol, unless the message you're making is that you care about the environment.

But for a daily commuter car, it performs better than all of those kinds of cars, and it's surprisingly versatile. And in California, at least, you get commuter lane access with the Plug-in model which will get you to work faster.

Ha thanks BISCO - but - it does make you think when you look at YOUTUBE'S search results.

My first vid, I panicked and bought some links! Ended up on page 7! I also used Hall and Oates in a montage, and it was banned in Germany - hence probably a rank flag. I removed links and its now Page 2 on KW Prius Review.

New one - shorter tighter edits, less jokes, more content, not indexed yet.

Marketing means nothing, its watch time, YT care about length of time audience is held for during a vid.

As for Rebound.. nice thoughts, but what is missing from mine, I added the points you raised. In fact apart from the space issue is that not what my editorial was on the second video?

You asked for help, I gave you help.

Your marketing isn't too good: You title is a joke that isn't too funny. Maybe in Britain it's hilarious, but I think it's not apparent that it's a joke until you watch the video. Problem is: That doesn't get somebody to watch the video. If I were thinking of buying a new Prius, I'd pass by your video, based on its title. Something more boring like "Prius 2016 In-Depth Driving Test" would be more likely to gain my attention.

In fact, look at all the videos you've created. The two videos with compelling titles got far more views. You usually get under 10K views. But when your VW review was titled: Why You Should Get This Car, you got nearly 50K views. People need to know what your review is going to say: Should I buy the car or not? Do you know secrets about this car? Why should I buy it? Is it a bad car?

I watched your video again, and I still don't think it's very compelling. Your jokes make it difficult for me to tell when you're being sincere. You spend a long time on neat new features which are available on most premium new cars today. Then you ridicule the car's shifter, make fun of the beeps, claim it gets half the mileage Toyota claims, and then you finally say that you get it. But it isn't clear what you "get," or if you're being sincere. It's difficult to tell what you like about the car.

People usually read or watch car reviews because they are looking for advice on their next car buy. I think what they want is to hear from a cool guy like you that the car is awesome. People don't like to hear that the car they're going to buy is amazingly practical or undependable.

You didn't seem to mention its quietness. You said it's more powerful but not fast. I think your video production is excellent, your filming style is great, your appearance is great, you have a very good voice and professional delivery. But in the end, I definitely don't walk away thinking that you really like the car or even with an understanding of what's likable about it. Your enthusiasm didn't come through. And I think it's ok if you don't like a car, but it works best if you say why, and even better if you say that you love it but the reason you won't buy one is X (already own a car, prefer faster car, have large dog, need to haul lumber, it's not good enough in snow, etc.). Your reason.

I realize this is pretty tough talk, but it's intended to help you make a better video, because I'm not personally impressed with this review. It's kind of flavorless, which is too bad, given your excellent production quality. I think you can do better, and I hope this helps you.

Exceptionally useful view points and a lot of usable stuff much of which I can't argue with, so thanks for taking the time to pen that. My Volvo V40 review was much straighter, and comparatively has had many more views and a slow watch time curve decline.

I have edited the title, but noted in the interim that this one out ranked the first Prius video I did.I do hope I don't de rank, having changed the title to something more "generic"

Like I may have said this was a re edit, rescue mission from a film that comparatively did flop. This was a cut and shut re edit, re write and re voice. This was a remix and excuse to use footage I didn't use before, including links.

Titles are tricky, because they need to be clickable outside of context and so this is huge area. That title actually was used by Toyota Head of PR when re tweeting the video. I figured they know what is clickable and how to describe what to expect from a video.

It is not a serious review nor is it supposed to be, its not a serious car, its quirky. Hence tilting needs to suggest that in some way so as not to dupe YT users into clicking and then clicking away because it is not what they expected.

Anyway some very good points well raised many of which I agree are fair and useful.

Well, because there are 3.8 m owners... surely though that means the market of those wishing to buy is pretty high. I don't know the Prius market share, sure it is a bad ish car but having experienced it, you don't realise how brilliant it is ... moreover maybe people discount looking up about it. That said - there are more groups of FB for it some of which have around 50,000 members. So its a fan car. This though is mainly mongolia, china, and Eastern Eurupe...

The new model of Prius faces some serious challenges in the market:
First, petrol prices have fallen substantially, at least in the US. (Of course, we've had cheap petrol before, and people flocked to buy SUV's, then they struggled when petrol prices doubled.)

Second, there are many other affordable high-efficiency vehicles to choose from, including all-electric cars.

Three, not everyone's enamored by its design.

It's true that movie stars bought Prius, but have they traded up to Leaf and Tesla as the eco-car of choice?

I have owned Prius since 2010, but I haven't tried this latest generation. I think it's fair to ask what's new about this generation of Prius that will make me buy the car.

In a word not a lot. No new features - slow nav but nicer interior and more spacey looks, expensive car for what it is. Not having known the older one, I was surprised how good it was, compared to what I drive I expected it to be a bag of rubbish but it wasn't compared to a cheaper one thats old shape. Not sure.

actually, there have been many improvements. double wishbone suspension was uge. more insulation and better seats for a quieter, more comfortable ride.
the efficiency of the drive train is way up, and reflected less in epa numbers than actual users reports.
sure, the toys are expensive if you want them, but the best part is that you can buy a two for twenty grande right now. incredible.

I guess I'll take a new one for a test drive. But lately I've been wanting a performance car. I haven't made my mind up.
