There's a door lock button on the driver's door if you're inside. If you're outside, there is an actual key hidden inside the FOB which you can lock the door - though either way, you'd have to leave POWER ON to have A/C on. In Australia it keeps your DRLs on, not sure about Canada which could be annoying while camping.

The A/C has an electric compressor and uses the hybrid battery, so it will fire up the petrol motor every now and then to recharge the battery - how often would depend on the temperature. If you needed heat, the only heat available (in Australian versions) is from running the petrol motor, but it wouldn't run continually (unless you're parked on a frozen lake, I guess - we don't get really cold here).

You need to reach forward and lock the doors from the inside using the switch on the front door. It's not difficult.

In the US, you can turn off the DRLs. I am not sure about Canada.

Man I really want to do this.

Have people found a way to cover the back window for some privacy? I have sun shades for the front and can just use tshirts in the side windows

The height being off a bit, even a couple of inches, is not a big deal. The sleeping cushions and your body just span the gap. You could just fold up a couple of towels.

It's not needed. Unless you have the lights on. Just have the decency to wear PJs, shorts or pants and a t shirt. No one is interested in what's going on in your car.

What kind of camping trip is it if I have to wear pants?

LOL. Pants aren't required. I listed PJs and shorts, as well! You are welcome to use the footie PJs, or even the back hatch version for additional comfort and convenience.

I used the cargo cover. It worked well. I know there are two kinds of covers; I have the one that lifts up when you open the hatch door. On the standard feature list they call it the Lightweight Cargo Area Tonneau Cover. You can see it in the video I posted on this forum titled Car Camping Hawaii Volcanos National Park Nanakanipalo Campground. And in another Car Camping Prius Set Up.

Haha, thanks, I actually watched your video showing this before but I forgot about that part because I was mostly amazed at the panels you made for the side windows.

Anyone kind enough to share information would have a cargo floorplan or the maximum cargo floor dimensions?
