I put in a Buyers Order for a Premium today.

Standard $ 500 off here in Connecticut as elsewhere. While we are both Costco and AAA members, I wanted to get in the queue for a VIN # before December 31 to make this tax year rebates. The Fed $ 4,500 but also the State of Connecticut additional $ 3,000.

As I have no idea what the incoming Congress might do, I thought it best to act quickly.

This will be our 3rd Prius and as we have a homeowner owned 10.75 KW solar system, our electricity cost is net zero to operate the Prius Prime, in fact, the utility here cuts us a check in March as a supplier.

Were either AAA or Costco involved in your negotiations and if so did they save you any money? I am a member of Costco and am curious as to whether there is any advantage to AAA's car buying program.

The quote I got through the Costco auto program is 500 under invoice and accessories at dealer cost. Another member here for a similar deal.

Don't know invoice price until it comes in. Based on earlier reports of invoice price, it should be around $1,800 less than just $500 off.

Yes. When I got it, they didn't have invoice pricing yet.

I got mine Prime Advance as follow:

MSRP: $34,467 (includes: Body Side Molding, Carpet Floor and Cargo Mat and Bumper Protector)
Final Price before TTL: $32,000 (after $500 Toyota discount)

So there is some negotiation room...

I am not positive, but I think that the tax year is determined by the date you take delivery of the car

No, neither. My situation might be rather unique for, as I have free electricity, I reckoned the savings from our solar array would over time outweigh whatever Costco or AAA might be able to do, if anything.

I'm hopeful for a VIN number before December 31. :)

I am not positive either but I know the critical matter is having the VIN#. The contract has been signed and I'm ready to pay in full anytime between now and December 31. New Years Eve would be nice. :)

Hopefully someone here will chime in who is certain, but I have read that the date on car title defines the tax year, and I thought that title transfer occurs on delivery day.

I have tried Costco auto during the thanksgiving for my prime. Initially I got the price from Costco ~1000 less than msrp. It's too good to be true. So I call the dealer Costco and they were not willing to sell the car at cheaper price. Its seem like a scam. I have complained to Costco and never heard back from them.

If anyone have any luck with Costco, pls share.
