I think the younger car buyers will look closer at the infotainment aspect of the car, and these are the buyers Toyota has had trouble attracting in the past.

But you can't control any of that unless you aren't moving, as far as I can tell. And I know you can pair your phone and stream music from phone to car without it because I did it in a 2016. Pair - play - done.

I'm leaning toward not even activating ether Entune or Safety Connect when I get my Advanced. I wouldn't pay for Safety Connect anyway so why go through the trouble of getting it to work and learning how to use it?

Many thanks to you owners who took the time to post to my question. Sounds like the consensus is people quite like the car. (Some posters got sidetracked on the Entune complaints, but to me that doesn't sound too major in the grand scheme of things, plus since it seems to be a widely-held complaint, I am hoping that Toyota will update Entune and make it better.) Pizza Man, I agree with you on especially liking the look of the headlights -- I would imagine that very unique look indeed draws compliments. And I also don't care much about 0 to 60 times, as long as the car handles well and is fast enough for merging, etc. No one has said it feels slow, so that's good enough for me. Maybe to be safe I will get one in red, so it will feel faster!

I would say it feels about as fast if not faster off the block as my Camry Hybrid did, which was plenty fast enough. I am slow not the car :D. I tend to drive partially by feel and I am not used to the position above the road yet and find myself driving about 5MPH slower than I think I am. Coming from another Prius you shouldn't have this issue. I am actually generally pleased with the speed so far.

As to the Entune stuff sorry about that, but I would say that the features work mostly. The Safety Connect is a nice feature, and having the SOS button just overhead is good in an emergency although I hope I never have to press it. I will say I am likely to cancel my AAA account because I am not seeing much use in it with this on the car. The one advantage to AAA is that it isn't assigned to a car so I get to use it for whatever vehicle I am in.

I have only test driven the Prime so far, but it felt much peppier than my 2009 Prius!

Simple summary - I absolutely love the Prime! I own the Plus model , so don't have to deal with many of the Entune Software issues).

Ride comfort - excellent: I drove from California to Washington State and we both found the ride & seats comfortable and pleasant. I am 6'3 tall. The cabin is quiet (compared to my previous Prius Gen 3 and my previous BMW 3 series). The road feel has vastly improved over the Gen3. It feels great...love it!

Acceleration - great. I'm beyond the 0-60 comparisons, don't plan on drag racing and am not living in Germany with no speed limit on freeways...so what's the point in discussing top speed, etc.. Getting on freeways, merging, etc is great...no complaints. If I had wanted a performance car I would have stayed with my BMW.

Looks - beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I love the looks of the car and so far only have gotten compliments how sporty it looked and often was met with surprise when I said it was a Prius.

Storage - plenty for our purposes. Drove two friends to the airport with 2 large (and I mean large) roller bags plus a regular carry-on rollerbag plus other stuff...I pushed one of the back seats forward - voila...plenty of room to get it all into the back.

EV range/gas mileage - MPG is way above my expectation...getting mid 60/mpg is not a problem without hypermiling. EV range on regular temperature days is in the upper 20s, low 30s, during below freezing with heater/heated seats running was in the low 20s. Charging is super-easy. Currently using an extension cord and 110 outlet. No problem with charging in rain, snow, wind, etc. Will upgrade to a 220 EVSE later on.

For the Entune Apps that the Plus offers - no problem here...the car connects automatically to either the Android or I-phone, phone calls connect easily, phone quality over speaker/mic is excellent. Playing Pandora, iheart, etc. works great. and Bluetooth connection for other services (Spotify, etc. works great). Love the speaker quality!

Navigation - mostly use Google maps and have the voice commands come through Bluetooth...don't really look at the map while driving either on screen or phone. For the few times I used the Toyota navigation it worked fine though.

    Price/Value - excellent!

Hope this helps making your decision more educated/easier!

There are updates but it's not over-the-air.

    Also, Canada doesn't have Entune.

I think that's an update to the entune apps, not the car firmware. I'm thinking that a firmware update would be so 'safety centric' that it could only be applied by the dealer.

At 20, I may be the youngest person wth a Prime here. While Android Auto would be nice, coming from an '04 Nissan Altima I think the (minimal) Infotainment on the Plus trim to be fantastic. No more fiddling with a radio transmitter to listen to my music.

I've had the Prime Plus for almost a week. Except for driving it home I've driven all EV and it's been great. It's forced me to try to drive more efficiently to extend the range but it's been almost like a game. Despite constant hills I'm getting around 21 miles EV.

My previous car was very comfy and the Prime, despite being new so it's seats will soften, is almost as comfy and I think a little more in the rear seats.

It's wider than I thought it would be, but probably a lot closer in size to your previous Prius so it shouldn't feel much bigger.

I have a red one and I'm pretty sure it's faster but I've yet to drag race another Prius... Red is not my favorite color but the red on this Prime is gorgeous, more candy apple than the maroon-ish of my previous car. You can almost feeeel people looking at your car in envy. Almost.

Hi everyone. I am passing down my 2010 Prius III to my son, and am taking delivery of my 2017 Prime Advanced on Friday, after I replace that god awful pleather with real leather. I chose the magnetic gray metallic exterior/black interior, and will be purchasing the after market appliques to cover up that hideous white plastic (what were they thinking?!). I look forward to reading/chatting with you all about our car(s).

Nothing, that's why I said what I said. You CAN update the Entune Apps, You CANNOT update the car firmware. (entune vs. Prime firmware) Car firmware includes things like how the TCS system works and everything else that controls how the car actually works.

How are you doing that? Seat covers?

I'm looking to go the other way and replace the Softex with cloth (possibly microfiber). I may keep the Softex because I find it better than real leather but not as good as cloth.

I am having the seats replaced entirely. I prefer leather for the durability and feel. The cost also includes replacing the pleather door panels, so everything matches. I'll post photos. I have to say I'm getting a great deal on this at only $1,600.00 for everything.

Maybe today's technology is better than in the past, but I've experienced hot, sweaty, cracking, chipping, and peeling pseudo-leather, so I've insisted on leather in my last three vehicles, and have not experienced anything negative by doing so. California heat isn't great on plastics.

Yes sure, but you are commenting on the wrong thing. Tideland said Entune doesn't update over the air. I said it does because mine updated. Go back and reread the post.
