And now we have some evidence vs marketing claims in the brochure.

I don't have that feature . Since I got hit twice in a traffic light waiting for the green light on my Gen 3 I really think people just plain idiot. They not paying attention at all. It a good feature to have . People now days just want to speed up and cut you off or pass you even if they going over the speed limit.

The article was referring to technology used while parking. I believe the pedestrian detection, etc. are a separate feature.

Don't quote me on that, though. I basically have the same car as you, but a different year & color.

I do not know for a fact the discussion is just about parking sensors. That is just my (possibly flawed) interpretation.

That's what I also gathered from the link. I can attest that it saved me from hitting a wall in a parking lot the first day I got the car. It stopped the car a few inches from the obstacle. Fantastic :D

Welll.... the survey was conducted by Toyota, so I don't think it really clears the bar of independent evidence and is one step above marketing claims

But it makes a lot of sense that proximity sensors decrease low-speed collisions when parking

Just editorial: ICE equates to Intelligent Clearance Sonar, a system that operates at low speed only, detecting nearby objects.

Agreed, we would need to see an independent assessment to fully determine the value.

Yes to clarify, it's talking about the "Intelligent Clearance Sonar" that's optional on the top model Prius and Prius Prime (US/Canada) and top two trims in the UK (Business Edition Plus & Excel). It is not the Pre-Collision System (PCS) that is standard equipment.

ICS is more than just parking sensors.

It's actually standard on the top two trim versions here in the UK, as it's one of the components within IPA. 1483046612792.jpg

The brochure says it is part of IPA in the US too.
    Thanks for clarifying.

Oh I meant that it's not just the top model cause the UK has ICS on its top two models so I just made sure to clarify that it's on the top model for North American spec cars. (#worldforumproblems)

is this only for auto parking, or anytime you're about to plow into something?
