The warranty & maintenance guide covers a loaner if the repairs cannot be completed in one day.
Anything beyond that would be just a dealer goodwill gesture.

No, I think what's happened is that the maintenance intervals are so high and costs are so low that they can offer the customer something very appealing: Maintenance is absolutely free for 3 years/ 36,000 miles! And to do that, all they do is give out three oil change/tire rotations and two air filter changes. It's much cheaper than it used to be. Other car makers also offered free maintenance and it's a very appealing offer to many car buyers.

With Gen 4 Toyota offers 2 years free maintenance, not 3.

Eerie: we're at 65K kms and still have original cabin and engine air filters. Engine air filter looks near-pristine; cabin filter a bit more rough, but meh.

With an Engine filter that old you must not do much city driving or driving in dusty areas.

I updated Mendel's maintenance spreadsheet for the 2017 Prius and attached it to this post.

That's what I'm thinking, we're on the west coast, and temperate climate, fair amount of rain keeps the dust down.

Moral of the story; new filters are not mandatory; inspect and replace if needed.

In another thread, you recommended changing the transaxle fluid. Your spreadsheet only says to inspect every 30K miles.
What is your recommended replacement interval since Toyota does not even mention inspecting it?

The spreadsheet is meant to echo the official schedule, just a conversion to easier to read format.

With transaxle fluid I'd recommend first drain-and-fill at one year or 10k miles, then a further three year or 30K, maybe one more at further 60K or 6 years.

In the Gen II Care, Maintenance and Troubleshooting Forum, there are some sticky threads created by a few engineers who sent transmission oil samples out to labs for analysis and they gathered all the results. Their conclusion is that you should change the transaxle fluid at 30,000 miles and every 60,000 miles after that -- 30/90/150/210

My first change though, at the one year mark and around 15K km's, was by far the darkest looking. I suspect you can't dump the break-in detritus too soon.

There's definitely no such thing as changing your oil too many times.

Probably true. The official Toyota maintenance does not mention the transaxle at all I left it in the spreadsheet above because I know it is good practice to maintain it. On my spreadsheet I replaced "inspect" with "replace" for the transaxle fluid and added 10K.

Ok they did the parking break recall and the 10000 mile check early at 8500. Wish I had seen the thread on the rear struts. ARGH!
