    Hi folks.

I'm locked out. Battery dead. I have the key fob key. When I place the small key into the door. The door will not unlock. In the driver side door I turned the key both ways.
No luck the door will not open. Where is my mistake.

    Please and thank you.

Try to wiggle it loose or use a little wd40. Did you buy the car used? Hopefully it's the right key.

Try your other fob and/or the key from your other fob. New cars have 2 fobs, but a new 2014 Prius v is very unusual now.

Is the little key cut with a pattern in the sides of it? Sounds like you don't have the correct emergency key (either blank, or for a different car). Ditto on trying another key fob and key.

Then this conversation is over. The dealer needs to have it towed in and solve this for you. And while you're arguing with them, they owe you a brand new 12v battery too.
