Odd smell in prius

yes, the rubber tubes that vent the inside of the traction battery degrade and begin to smell like donkey breath.
they need to be replaced. oem is kind of expensive, or you can find medical grade silicone for less money.

Besides being more expensive, maybe the OEM will just as stinky in a few years? Or maybe they wised up and changed their rubber supplier??

 

good question. seems like it's only older ones, but not sure.

 

Yeah, I guess "new and improved: less stinky" is not going to fly, in the product description.
