Which makes me grumble about the rear-wheel power and tow kit in the announced Gen-4 but not available in the USA. These and the AC power inverter are the only options that would have kept us in a Prius instead of switching to the Prius Prime. <old man grumble, grumble>

Funny thing how the missing TSS-P in the 2016 Gen-4, Level two ECO sold a BMW i3-REx. Toyota USA sure worked hard to not sell us a Gen-4 Prius.

The lack of the rear-wheel motor is likely an attempt to try to send sales to the (likely) higher-profit RAV4 Hybrid.

The lack of the towing package is almost certainly because European tow ratings are not applicable to the US - they're optimized for a 50 MPH speed limit while towing, and for lower tongue weights (their trailers are designed differently, and the lower speeds help enable that too).

I was thinking the same upon seeing the LC500h system. Yet two mode also was tow limited compared to the ICE models; 6000 was the best it did while the ICE could push 10,000.

Only the AWD hybrid models had a tow rating, while the ICE FWD ones could do so.

Tesla sure will sell to anyone that has a phone or internet access. Lack of stores might have more to do with your independent state car dealers than what Tesla wants.

European tow regulations result in trailers that can not be taken above 60mph due to safety limits. US ones sacrifice trailer load for safety at interstate speeds. Using the SAE standards will also result in an even more conservative tow rating.

ok, I'll bite ... Telsa high power wall chargers, apart from superchargers - one wyoming Hampton Inn hotel has two (not a Holiday inn express) .... and one wyoming hotel (hilton garden) has one. No, after living in Montana (just 1 area code for all the phones, faxes, pagers, cell phones etc) which is similar in teeny population to wyoming, one gets a feel for area amenities. So when someone claims there are a dozen way out in BFE ? No way. A station with even 8 or more are only found in heavily populated / heavily trafficed areas.

I would think that if a hotel had twelve J1772s, it'd show up on Plugshare...

Edit: Wait, what if it's not J1772s for EVs, but it's NEMA 5-15s for block heaters for ICEs?

Wyoming isn't quite so far north that I'd expect a hotel to have NEMA 5-15s at parking spaces, but...

It wouldn't "have" to, it is just that the first sentence mentioned Tesla. The next sentence mentioned "chargers" without specifying the type. Most people would infer that the chargers are Tesla chargers since he didn't specify.

That would make much more sense. There are still places in Minnesota that still have the old oil pan heater plugs in their parking lots.
12 of any car charger is unusual, especially in Wyoming.

he was replying to post #12 about elon. you could infer it, but he may have just meant chargers. i have no idea what they are, or if they exist at all.
