[Q] Importing 2012 Prius Five to California from Canada for personal use

    Hello, has anybody imported a US from Canada for personal use.
    I am somewhat confused with what should I do - and I decided to ask here first before calling the 1800 number and being on hold forever

    Registrar of Imported Vehicles - Importing a Vehicle



    Just note you need DRLs (which a 2012 Prius Five does but you have to disable the "DRL OFF" position on the stalk when you do your provincial inspection).


    The website should provide all the information you need. Always ensure you have the documents in order. If you're unsure, just call the border that you'll be crossing and run through the documents with them over the phone.

    The way I read it, he is going the other way, Ontario to California.

    I'm guessing he is expecting to move from Toronto to California. But since posting, he hasn't returned to PC to read and clarify.

    A quick search found that 'it depends'. Some models are good to go, some need minor modifications, others will be more problematic. Check these websites:
