Title may have been slightly confusing. I have a 2004 Prius with leather seats, but no navigation or bluetooth(not sure if it was made for my year), I'm going to upgrade the speakers, which means a custom stereo. I was considering, while I'm at it, can I change steering wheels to one that supports bluetooth calling?
I'm not worried about running the wiring, I'm confident I can do that. I'm wondering if my car will have any lack of ports for the cable, since it wasn't made for that level trim. If I can't add a new steering wheel, is there any options for me to control bluetooth talking from the steering wheel? My new stereo will have bluetooth calling, just want to be control it easily.

I don't know if the clockspring in the steering column is the same for the base system as the JBL. if it is the same, you might be able to change the steering wheel buttons (or the whole steering wheel) and if the steering wheel interface (i used a metra axxess) sees the extra buttons it might just work. if the clockspring is different then trying to convert might not be possible.

I replaced the clockspring on my Prius maybe 6 months ago. I don't remember having to buy a JBL versus non-JBL part, so as far as I know, the clocksprings are all the same on all 2nd gen Prius models. I have no idea about the wiring however and if there's the right wires from the clockspring to the dash.

Is it alright to ask a question in a dead thread? I had this exact same question and wanted to know if you had any progress, I see the touring wheels on eBay and the right side controls. [IMG] [IMG]
