I finally got the Techstream 10.10.029 to work. I was able to connect it to my car. My main reason for getting the MVCI cable was to see which one of my TPMS was causing the TPMS light to stay on. I did recently change my tire and everything was fine for about a week. Then all of a sudden the sensor would go on and after maybe 50 miles of driving it would turn off. This happened for a 4 days. And my tire pressure was always above normal roughly 38psi all around. Now the light blinks for about 1-2 minutes and stays on. I tried reseting it with the button but no go. Back to the topic at hand. I tried to read the TPMS sensor with Techstream but it says the ecu is not available or something. Can anyone help me? If I run the live data on all ecu it will display the front and rear psi but not each one. And no DTC codes pop up.

So far I know, the cheap Techstream doesn't support TPMS information.
    The Dealer's equipment does.

My Techstream shows individual tire pressures for the four tires plus a fifth unused one. It also displays the pressure trigger point for the TPMS light.

What ECU are you monitoring for the tire pressures?

I have no problem reading TPMS with a cheapo (although I tried to get a good cheapo) ...sometimes I see an error message like that but it goes away.

See my post on Managing TPMS with TechStream for some tips once you get it working.

One thing they say car has to be on to read TPMS, I don't know if that means READY mode or not. Apparently you do not have to move vehcile to get them working. The TPMS are designed to be off when the car is off to save TPMS battery.

I would think your version should display the tire pressures.

Do you have a Gen 2 or 3?

Now my wife's Gen3. I purchased the software quite a few years ago for a Gen2.

I am not sure software makes a big difference...prior to this thread I do not recall anyone mentioning inability to read the TPMS info. MiniVCI cable quality can be questionable.

Let me hook mine up tomorrow and list the steps to get to the tire pressures and then we can see whether it is software or something else.

When you connect to the vehicle a list of ECU's is displayed. One of the ECU's is Tire Pressure Monitor. Select this and then select Data and a full screen of tire data appears. Included is TPMS ID numbers, pressure, temperature, battery voltage and low pressure setpoint.

If you do not see the Tire Pressure Monitor ECU, I am not sure if this would be a software or cable issue. There are so many different people listing the mini-VCI cable and software it may be hard to tell.

Techstream may be set up in Europe mode instead of North America mode. One of the differences is the presence of TPMS.

With Toyota's implimentation of TPMS, it's function seems to have long since been eclipsed by it's problems and expense.

It's function is to meet the vehicle requirements to sell in the US. Apparently, it does that quite well.

I have had no problem with mine in over 7 years and 123k miles. Techstream indicates the battery voltages are still over some threshold value. I picked up a screw in a tire and it correctly displayed the TPMS icon. I could not really tell which tire until I tested with a pressure gauge.

So I would have to say mine have functioned as intended.

Same here, with the OEM rims and tires: no problems, have alerted me once, and one false alarm anomaly.

I have a separate set of snow tires on their own rims: no sensors, accordingly no problems.

I lost one at 9.5 years and the other 3 are still working for 11-yrs come July.
I am living with one bad TPMS which I have faked out the system to turn out the warning light.

    (close to 160k miles)
