Can you adjust the beep on the rear sensors?

Was wondering if there is any adjustment for the beep on the rear sensor? On my 2016 Four Touring it does not start to beep until I am almost hitting something when backing up. Basically not until the third line on the rear camera view closest to the bumper. You can adjust the sensitivity on the front sensors (three levels), so was wondering if there was something similar on the rear sensors?

Thanks, but I think that you may have confused the listing for my 2005 Prius below my Name with my request for this information for our 2016 Prius.

From the owner's manual (a wonderful place to start):

I appreciate the direction to the Park Assist portion of the manual. Even though I have it turned on I have not used the Park Assist function. I agree that the owner's manual is a wonderful place to start and I did spend time trying to find anything related to the rear sensor, but I was not equating it to the Park Assist features.

I also utilized my Carista module to see what options it gave to me to possibly change relative to the rear sensor. What caught me off guard was that the buzzer feature does not start until you are within a very short distance, say when I am backing up into my garage. And the lines on the large display when in reverse are a different measurement system than the buzzer and the three lines on the upper display.

I guess I was expecting the first level of buzzer to start when an object came within the first line on the large display, but it does not start until you are past the second line on the large display approaching the third.

It is all a process of learning the features of the various options on the Prius and while I have been through the 800+ pages of the owner's manual, I do not have it memorized or know the correct terminology to find the appropriate section(s). That is why I appreciate the skills and knowledge of my fellow PriusChat users. Thanks again for pointing me to the sections that helped me to better understand this function.

I also find it interesting that any adjustment to these sensors has to be done by the dealer as that option is not available to the owner on either the display or through Carista. Thanks again.

My reply may have been a bit peevish for which I apologize.

My sensors warn me at differing distances depending on what activity I'm performing. Backing out of a parking space the rear sensor warn me when a car is crossing my rear at a distance of 6-10 feet is my guess.

When I'm backing into my garage the sensitivity of a sensor is dependent on steering wheel position and speed, in my experience.

No need to apologize, as I agree with you that owners need to utilize the Owner's Guide, even though it is a bit cumbersome. You did not know what steps I had taken prior to making my information request.

My side sensors work great and I really value them for when I am pulling out of a parking space blind. They are a great feature for vehicle or pedestrian traffic coming up on the side to my car.

I am due to take my Prius into the dealer for its 10,000 mile service and will talk with them about the options they can adjust on the middle back up sensors. Thanks again for your support. It helped tremendously.

My front, rear and side sensors are all the same sensitivity, they all bleep-bleep at 3 green bars and the bleeping gets more rapid as things get nearer, at two then at one the last green bar turns red and I get a continuous bleep. The red bar indicates a 30cm distance to the object.
It sounds like your rear sensors have been adjusted from the default setting of "FAR" to "NEAR" at some time.

Way too much bleeping beeping going on.

From page seven hundred and fifty seven, bottom half... looks like level 3 customization setting can be programmed by the dealer. For operation see page 335. >> but settings csn be enabled/disabled >> page 139. Also, Intelligent Clearance Sonar function while the .Simple Advanced Parking Guidance System is operating >>page 361. >>see page 348, see page 352. Also, see page 372.

Seriously, dude. Toyota has to simplify this. My sister owned a Prius for 4 years and never tried read the manual. She opened it once and groaned.
