The Nav manual has directions on how to replace the startup and shutdown images with your own pics.

In discussions about the general population, I remind myself that not everyone knows how to swim as well as I do.

Looks like the numbers come from a text book.
Talking to a passenger, using a cell phone, and hands free cell use are all close and could be within the standard deviation for the values. other studies have found cell phone and hands free are equally bad. Part of it is because the person on the other end of the line doesn't realize you are trying to drive, and keep yapping. On the other hand, a passenger might shut up when things get 'busy' on the road.

But I'm, or the reporters are, likely confusing cognitive distraction reports with increased likely hood of crashing statistics. Talking to someone, no matter how, can be equally distracting, but a passenger doesn't want to be in a crash as much as the driver, and can stop the conversation when approaching a back up or intersection.
I noticed a top trim Malibu hybrid didn't have one, and I think I heard some econo models are dropping them.
1 out 4 CD players didn't work for us. It's the 2010 Prius' CD changer that skips. All other ones (even the Corolla) worked for their entire life. I do hear a difference playing CD (when it works in my 2010 Prius) versus playing via BT Audio. It's noticeably clearer to my ears. I have the JBL audio system if that matters.
.
Never had a car CD stop working, and only had skips on the roughest bumps and pot holes. Sound qality is going to drop with streaming. Plugging the phone into the aux jack will fix that. Of course, that isn't an option with the new iPhone. My recent cars all could play MP3s off a CD, and I couldn't tell a difference between them and regular CDs.

Darned if I can find it. Page# please.

In any case, I was talking about the animations. Wouldn't mind replacing those with still images or movie clips.

page 60 on the pdf that I downloaded. It's in section 3 Other sections.
Step 2 press the APPS button - we don't got one.

Go to the printed manual, section 3 is on page 67. - No mentioning of transferring images...

No none of ours ever stopped work. My current car (2010 w/ 4-disc CD Changer) is the one with the issue. It skips. I've tried various store-bought CDs as well as my own MP3 CDs. They work on our home sound system as well as the Gen 2's 6-disc CD changer so I don't think it's a disc issue.

You're right. MP3 CDs do sound as good as regular audio CDs to my ears. I use BT audio as a convenience factor. I don't like constantly plugging in and removing my phone when I get into the car (if I were to use AUX. No USB in my car.. wasn't standard in Canada).

I guess alternatively I can plug an mp3 player/iPod into the AUX jack and leave it plugged into the 12V power outlet. However, it'll continue to play when the car is parked (if I forget to stop it).

Probably the online PDF one is for the small display screen rather than the Advanced and Premium version.

Unfortunately even a little snow on the emblem deactivates the pre collision and all the other Toyota safety sensing features, So be aware. Just so you all know. Don't worry I won't put my life in the hands of any car. This technology is still young.

Plus trim.

Pro: Driving is wayyyy better than my 2012 PIP, in many ways. Ride is better, handling is better. Power feels better, even though I know it's not. I guess the difference is that you can really use the EV mode, unlike the PIP. I kind of hammered it from the highway on-ramp, and rapidly got over 87 mph in EV before the ICE kicked in [then I slowed back down to legal speeds ;-)]. Range seems more realistic. Cabin is quieter. I never liked the tall console between the seats, so I am glad that's gone.

Con: Odd styling inside and out. Had to wait a while for a black interior because I really couldn't see living with so much white plastic and white upholstery. That dang visor. That dang beeping in reverse. Hubcaps? I mean, really?

Wash: LDA, I could take it or leave it. I had the Advanced before, and picked the Plus because I wanted less technology. I miss the HUD a little, but only because I don't like the mid-dash info center. I usually like to look at the road and the cars around me when I drive. I didn't need or like the big screen monitor. I like buttons and knobs and rockers for the radio and HVAC. Honestly, I am overwhelmed by the info on the dash and the monitor. I do miss the auto door lock openers. Never had anyone or anything in the back of either Prius, maybe some groceries, but I think the two-seat layout is good.

Even though I didn't need to upgrade at this point, I am glad I did. I got what feels like a real car, better even.

Yep, it's for the Plus display only. Find the term StartupImage. I don't see that in the 11 inch screen manual, unfortunately. Boooo!

They have a lot of these on MP3 now, if you're ok with torrenting try audiobookbay for audiobook torrents with tons of seeds.

Our library has e-audiobooks along with eBooks. I haven't tried the e-audiobooks yet.

Just found out I could unlock all 4 doors by holding the driver's side handle for 2 seconds until 2nd beep. Better than my wife 2012 RX350 I had to open the driver side door then press the unlock button to unlock other doors. No more pushing keyfob button necessary.

That is also adjustable (but you have to go the dealer or use an OBD-II BT accessory)
