I have been informed that my Prius ice is starting and stopping by its self. Headlights are also off and on. This is happening when car is in parking lot locked up. 2010 Prius 2 with 75k miles on it. has anyone ever heard of the happening ?.

How often has it done this? How long has it been doing this behavior? Any other recent issues with it? Has it been raining in your neck of the woods recently? Do you typically leave your headlights in the auto shut off, or do you manually turn them off before leaving the car?

Car beeps very loud at you if you walk away with it running, and you cannot remotely lock doors with car running.

Dont know how long its been doing this somebody at church warned me about it sunday morning. I park in the same spot every sunday and also work security so they knew it was my car. Headlights arn't left in auto shutoff. I don't have them on durring the day time only at nite and manually shut them off. No rain recently. I may just take it in to the dealer in the morning and see what they think. Needs washed anyway.

All of a sudden I discovered I can lock my wifes keys in the car standing outside with my Key fob. That's also something new.

It's possible, although the Battery is OEM and only 2 years old. I have apointment at dealer tomorrow at 11;00 to see whats going on. Kinda glad I got extended bumper to bumper warranty. This will be the second time I had to use it.

What has your 12 v battery measured at rest? After a run? Are the connections in the back secured? Any loose wires?

Is the non-bold part your answer? Because when it does that, your car is still on and that explains why the engine starts and stops on its own. Does that happen all the time? Is the car still in ready mode when you walk away after you park it or are all lights and indicators on the dash off?

Non bold part is my answer. What im saying is that when I walk away from the car i'm able to lock doors and car is quiet and dash is off.

It is difficult to believe that this is not due to the car staying in Ready mode. Does it only happen in the parking lot? What about at home? Is it intermittent or every day?

If you leave it in ready mode and get out and close the door it beeps very loudly at you. Being in ready mode has nothing to do with headlights going off and on. I have no idea how many times this has happened as I have never seen it do it. Just got back from dealer and they showed no codes and had no idea what would cause this. Got my lifetime free oil change and tire rotation so it wasn't a wasted trip. They also checked 12 volt batt. and it's ok. May be time to trade it in on a new Corolla or Camry.

Actually, the lights would cycle with the engine if, for some reason, you had them ON. You keep posting about the beep, but you don't say if you have checked to see that the car is off. Depending on the beep is problematic. You have never seen it do it and the dealer found no codes. You can dispose of the car if you want, but it sounds like there is nothing wrong.

Actually my lights are not on during daylight hrs. I shut them off when I turn car off. if I do have my lights on they don't cycle on and off with the ICE. If I would leave it running and try and lock it with the sensor on the door it makes a loud beep and wont lock. I always lock the car because some times I have to lock my gun in the car depending were i'm going. I have never come back and found the car in ready mode and running.

I was wrong about the lights. A brain spasm, I think. I wonder if the real issue is the car going through it's normal groans and mumbles after being shut down. They go on for at least an hour, and might be mistaken for the engine going on and off.
