Changing bad module on hybrid battery without balancing? Please help!

no, you don't have to solder them together I looped the solder around each stud because I was too lazy to strip the insulation off a long piece of wire..as I said, it was a suggestion from a shop, some of my mods were low 7 volt, some 8 volt, after doing this they were all around 7.6 volt had I have not had a problem with the pack in over a year. most of the $400 rebuilds here just replace 2 mods clean the fan and put the car back together so I thought Id try it myself for $50 and 2 hours time. maybe I got lucky

 

better to be lucky than good.

 

What I'm saying is that to do the job properly you need to spend a lot of time, have appropriate equipment for charging /discharging, appropriate measuring tools, and a supply of quantified modules.

Unless you have a business, most people don't have all these things. (lack of money, lack of time, lack of equipment, etc) Therefore, for the most part, what is done at home it is an incomplete job.

So no matter what you do it really is not the best. The extra time you spend doing a little of this or a little of that may not make any difference at all. Doing something and doing nothing may have the same outcome.

Either go all in and do it right (which most people will refuse to to do because of lack of time, amount of effort, or lack of money.)

Or skip all the steps and do an simply acknowledge that you are doing an incomplete job: this will save a lot of time, money, and effort. At least in the short term. Your car may not be reliable but so what?

You might get lucky and swapping in module works for a while for you.
Maybe you'll be unlucky and it does in a couple of weeks.

It's a toss up and luck is a big influence in the outcome.

# 15 is bad..change it , anything below 7.2 is junk......again you need to test these under a load not resting voltage, many people have told you to do this but if you aren't going to do it why waste everyones time??? I also told you not to charge them outside the pack as they will swell and never go back together since you clearly aren't listening Im not going to reply anymore to this post.. best of luck, don't electrocute yourself.

 

Dear Sir I tried to contact via private message but seems I may not have been worthy enough. I just wanted some more details on creating this bigger battery via positive and negatives looped together. so loop a conducting wire (solder is such a good idea) to all the positive contacts. and another piece to all the negatives. now do the positive as negative solders need to be connected? or will this seperate contact with each other allow them to settle voltages in each module over a day or so.
